  2. I absolutely do not suggest this. Each camera should be set up individually. NVRs are designed to be reactive to a camera, not as the administrator.
  3. I have been going the DIY route since my original install back in 2014/2015 which was new construction. Have been replacing products when they are outdated and adding Apple HomeKit products as my former C4 dealer was very slow to respond (took weeks to respond to a e-mail after multiple reminders), as in my market the dealers are chasing the new construction and over hundred thousand custom home movie theaters on Kiawah Island and Seabook Island, and very tough to schedule for equipment change out for an existing system. Mater of fact, I'm still on OS 2. Don't mind researching a product to make sure it is the correct match for my project, as when a piece of equipment fails the homeowner should have a basic under standing of how it works after a power cycle fails to fix. I'll pay a premium for a product that works, but as technology advances pricing should drop (except during the pandemic days). For example, a manufacturer that has been able to hold on prices while advancing technology is Apple. We're getting M silicon chips that cost less than the equivalent Intel chips, and a big productivity boost. Circling back that I contacted J Tech regarding the JTD-3081 as an audio extender and their support representative recommend SPDIF as I'm only extending sound to a 2.0 in ceiling speaker set up.
  4. No, you don't use a fan switch. That is to control an old school fan. I would personally just use a dummy non-control 4 switch or a keypad something like that.
  5. That is correct that you never provided me a quote, as my intention was just to mention you used AV Edge Pro over two years ago, March 2022. Are you still using that product?
  6. Do I just leave the current C4 AC Fan Switch as is when the Modern Forms fan is installed by the electrician? Any direction you can guide me to that summarizes the current C4 light switch offerings, as my switches were installed around 9 years ago? Would make life simpler if C4 had a DC fan switch, similar to the AC Fan switch.

  8. @RyanE Understood, thanks. I will need to explore how to code it so that it extracts the room name. It may end up being quicker to write all the notifications out individually for each similar device but where's the fun in that
  9. HIkvision (and similar) guides are a little clunky when trying to understand how it all comes together but it is essentially a system where the NVR is central to the wider system. Whenever a change is made on the NVR, it sends that config to the camera in question which does the grunt work. It is meant to be centrally administrative. So if you want a line crossing event, you configure it as a Smart Event on the NVR for that camera, add the schedule it should apply and the triggers. Altogether, any event that is detected will then be fed back to the NVR which logs both the video and the time/event VCA data so that you can easily see it on the timeline (be sure to tick either the Human or Vehicle tickboxes under it). Notifications are configured the same way. Yes, depending on the NVR, most pro installs use POE switches for the cameras and you simply add the IP addresses to the NVR for it to do its thing. Good luck.
  10. Can anyone help me understand if Chowmein drivers for TAPO Switches P110 Models in India are supported with Control4 Core 3 Controller? If not please help me if there is anyway to achieve this.
  11. G'day all, Just letting you know that a new build has been released (20240424): https://chowmain.software/drivers/control4-lighting-leaf This mainly improves the feedback of the lights and includes our new performance code. Full list of changes are: [Control] Improve Realtime Feedback channel to resolve a potential issue with communications dropping out, which also affected control (Agent) [Bug] Fix Misc Bugs (All) [Improvement] Improve compatibility with old Announcement Agent installations (Sensor) [Improvement] Improve Variable Handling (All) [Troubleshooting] Major Improvements to Diagnostics (All) [Misc] Add more defensive code to protect against potential issues (All) [Performance] Introduce some MAJOR performance improvements. Some logging tests of 10000x logs demonstrated speed gains from 6600ms to 60ms processing time. This is seperate from some other previous improvements yielding improvements of 680ms to 47ms on a Core series for another type of operation. Some other tests showed speed gains of 22ms (best case) on EA series controllers to less than 1ms average for certain operations. [Performance] Reduce HTTP connections required
  12. Awesome--thank you for the help with identification. I installed IVMS and managing playback is a little less clunky than through the tiny Hik-Connect mobile app, but I still have very limited functionality (e.g., can't actually speed up playback to 2x, 4x, etc.; there are no pins in the timeline showing me people and/or vehicles; no way to set up notifications that I can find). I managed to get into the NVR by just hard-wiring to it, and here it looks like I can set up zones and notification triggers, which is great! Unfortunately, these notifications don't appear anywhere outside of the local NVR setup. I.e., I don't get them in my Hik-Connect app and I don't see anything in IVMS. But I'm down the rabbit hole now, so will crack it eventually. This looks great based on what I've searched so far. Assuming it takes some knowledge to set it up though. Great! Based on some YT videos I've watched, it looks like the PoE will give me more direct access to the cameras + they'll actually appear in SADP (currently they don't!). Agree, it sounds like a good investment. Appreciate everyone's help--saved me from ripping and replacing a functioning (if somewhat clunky for now) system. On a separate but related note: are there recommended alarm systems for C4? We currently have a quote for Qolsys IQ4, but want to make sure we're installing the right thing for anything we want to do long-term.
  13. Upgrading to 3.4.2 fixed this issue. Thanks, Ari! Sent from my SM-F946U1 using Tapatalk
  14. There is not as far as I know. Programming doesn't know where's being called from. RyanE

Why? As the NEEO servers are shut down, I don't think they will work very well. RyanE
  16. Thanks. How did you obtain OVRC, if I can ask, and where would I be able to obtain it? Which version of OVRC are you using? Thanks very much.
  17. You could probably use a cheaper Monoprice one with an IR remote assuming that you can train the IR codes
  18. Right. Sa1 has 2x IR Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk
  19. Probably a long shot, but does anyone have one of these for sale?
  20. I wouldn’t need an IR transmitter for the Binary if I used IR from a Triad SA1 to control it, right?
  21. I thought about using my AVPro matrix but it’s a little big for a dresser
  22. Woops sorry posted the wrong link, that's the one I was thinking about. Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk
  23. Nor does it make it true. That's the thing with opinions. But feel feel to argue the facts (as well as the feelings) that fuel your opinion.
  24. Binary 260 switch is the newer model, comes in 3, 4 and 5 in 1 out options, has IR and serial drivers. It's also 4K HDR and full 4:4:4 @60 (and no timing issues with active cables unlike older models). I'm using two personally, one IR and one serial and they're rock-solid. https://www.snapav.com/shop/en/snapav/switchers-splitters/b-260-swtch-4x1
  25. The release note bug fix list has never been really a complete list - and if the bug number never went outside of the beta channels, it would not make the list to begin with.
  26. I'm not seeing any mention of this fix in the 3.4.2 release notes, and no reference to the ticket (AV-9682) that was referenced earlier in this thread.
  27. My dealer ordered in and tried a Binary balun - it works ok but not great, as there's a bit of a lag when switching sources and not all sources work. I swapped a known good c4-lu1 and it works fine. Worth trying the AVPro balun (or another one) do you think?
