RyanE got a reaction from IBZICON in Chime Field of View
My Chime is installed on my front porch, which is the full width of the house.  You can definitely see people coming from either direction, but of course, it's hard to identify them until they're close to the doorbell...
    https://youtu.be/HnsVTqjU8xs
Here's a video showing Day and Night someone walking on the porch.
YouTube is downscaling the video a bit, it's sharper in the original, and this is a secondary stream going to an NVR, so it's not optimal, but it gives you a good idea of the field of view.

RyanE got a reaction from SpencerT in What exactly does Passthru on for a Roku driver do?
The reason I run with Passthrough mode off is that the icon is not always accurate (select Netflix, hit 'home', and choose Hulu on the Roku, still shows Netflix icon, since mini apps are not 2-way).

12V to USB C works, although this is a bit bulky, I tried it with a PC supply, worked fine:

And of course, you can get them for a lot cheaper if you want to wait from Aliexpress...

Oh, there won't be any speed improvement, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.
So you've got that going for you ... which is nice.

Yeah, I have some converting USB ends to try the same thing w/ 12v DC supply.
Haven't done it yet, but I have the parts around here somewhere...

now if they know your WiFi SSID/Passkey they can still get support by sitting outside; but don’t think that is a valid risk to worry about

Hmm I would say the Ratgo does not intrinsically meet that requirement. Making the programming meet that is as simply as hiding the actual driver, then using a virtual one with only the sensors attached to program against.
WHEN vistual garage door is closed, toggle internal and externla light {xx even numer of timer} , play Frank Caliendo doing Arnold yelling 'Get out, get out of here now!' on loop, delay xx seconds, lower door.

I just installed three of these (and ordered five more) and use with the Chowmain driver.   Just follow the directions to flash the firmware (easy) and wire it up (easy) and it works like a charm.  I was pleasantly surprised that the driver suite auto-installed supporting drivers to expose the garage opener light, motion sensor and IR-beam stuff and makes them available in C4.  Nice bonus (although I haven’t tried those extras— I assume support varies by model of opener).   Basic garage door control “just works.”   I already pointed my old (broken) MyQ based programming to the new drivers and restored ability to control doors from DS2, navigators, etc.

    Good stuff!

IR beam requires IR beam installed, motion sensor requires keypad with motion sensor installed.  It can be added if you don't have it but not requried for operation.
It is fast becoming one of our top selling drivers.
Easy to setup, no cloud required and no internet required.  Means it is a solid installation that won't be effected by ISP or MyQ service disruptions.  Just works and will work forever.

I just heard release day was moved to next week on Tuesday (2/27/2024), but everything is signed off so I would expect it to be live that day and shouldn't be any additional delays.

@Cranky Oldman I just DM'd you the info to get the beta version, I believe it matches what will be the final release.

RyanE reacted to Andrew luecke in Hc800
HC250 can go straight in the bin.. At chowmain our drivers still mostly support 2.10.X (theoretically, except our new ones), but, without OS3, nobody should be installing HC250's anymore unless they want problems. The cost of labor for OS2.10 was also significantly higher, because drivers like our shelly driver wouldn't have been able to self setup
HC800 MAYBE, but nobody should be installing these either.. They only run OS3.3.0 max, so they're a dead product too. Our drivers will still support them, but because even OS3.3.1 added so many updates for the new color lighting stuff, even our os 3.3.0 drivers realistically need a newer OS then hc800 supports
Core series absolutely slaughters the EA series (we've been doing a lot of performance work, and the performance often is double). HC is older. Friends don't let friends buy HC controllers though..

Unrelated, if you're using Chowmain drivers, you're going to notice a few performance improvements in all of our newer drivers rolling out, and our new Related diagnostics and Extended Diagnostics systems
