Trying to shoehorn the biz model of some other industries like IT into this one will most likely cost you more in the long run if a high level of service and support is important. A side note but relevant: I considered supplementing my biz by signing up with a company that subs out installations for major retailers. But the high volume and in turn, low level of service that required to make it anywhere near feasible, wasn't the service I was looking to provide in good conscience. Another point many businesses don't take into consideration is the initial cost savings can quickly be diminished when you have to waste valuable time addressing issues with service calls for less reliable and/or poorly performing products. I'm not a security dealer but was able to program a DSC PC1832 panel for my sister with the help of the YouTube video at the following link: I installed the Envisalink module for self monitoring and she's happy with it : http://www.eyezon.com/?page_id=176 No bells and whistles with that setup but good for lower budget solutions.
