Paulknapp
Does anyone have suggestions for the best Airplay video source to use with my component matrix? I have an unused video input on my matrix and would really like to be able to send airplay video/audio from my Airplay devices (iPhone/ipad/Mac book) throughout the house. Thanks! malelan
i use xbmc for this. but obviously your device needs to output component.
texas3622
Why not just use an apple TV?
Cyknight
Component - and V1 Apple TV doesn't do airplay (unless that info is outdated, don't look at it anymore).
Paulknapp
I have an Apple Tv3 and it only has hdmi out. Apple TV 1 had component out, but no Airplay... What about some sort of HDMI to component converter??? -Paul
Cyknight
Certainly possible. They go for around 75-100 bucks generally for reasonably reliable ones. Biggest problem I would see is trying to stream hdcp enabled movies - Apple TV tends to be rather sensitive to it.
LSDave
you need one of these to use your apple TV v2 or 3 on a component matrix.http://www.hdfury.com/hdmi-hdcp/hdcp-converters-and-strippers-boxes/Otherwise get a V1 apple tv and load XBMC on it. Only word of caution is that it takes a bit of tweaking to get the component video output enabled once xbmc is installed.
