c4user3622
I have 8 touch screens into house and one of them will consistently lose power and go to sleep every few days. It is wired to a Poe injector. The other touch screens are fine and have never had an issue. The only solution seems to be to remove the touchscreen from the wall base station and plug it back in. It takes a few seconds but them reboots and is fine for a few days. It is getting to be annoying. Any suggestions?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
RAV
switch it with another location still does it, bad screen stops doing it, bad poe, wiring or back box
Cyknight
If more than one is PoE and you find from above its not the screen, swap PoE. If problem STILL stays at location, swap back boxes. STILL at same location it's wiring/termination or interference. Trouble shooting One-On-One - eliminate all possible failure points one by one
c4user3622
I switched the touch screens from a room that was not dropping the touchscreen connection to the one that had the problem. So far both seem to be working ok. However, my dealers programmer came over and ran a "detective suite." He said the "load" on the touch screen location that was dropping out is very high and in a red zone. He wouldn't tell me more but said for me to keep an eye to see if the screen stopped working again. What does that mean?
Cyknight
There's a way to see the load levels in the suite - a basic overview to see how hard a screen is working (ie processor load). If it's running high, usually there are sub-functions that are running with errors (ie intercom) or an app on one of the screens is running up the load.As he mentioned, keep an eye on it and wait if/until it happens again. c4user3622
Does it matter that it is the same physical location but different screens?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cyknight
If the old location is having issues with the new screen, high load levels are likely due to network being unstable, forcing constant reconnecting of services. Essentially a low level 'restart' - constantly. Mind you, this is largely speculation at this point.

c4user3622
This won't kill the screen??Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cyknight
What won't kill it - poor network connection? Depends. Full loss it'll reload but if it retains connection, it may just have issues in the background. Also static IP can keep it running longer bridging connection loses. c4user3622
It's on a static ip with a POE injector. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

c4user3622
Could it be that plate in the wall? I'll switch that with a different location to see.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cyknight
Yes, the little black insert box would be the next thing to test.
Cyknight
Note that one common mistake is to overtighten the insert or back box into the construction box (new construction box more likely than retro box) which can cause the connector to no sit correctly - something to check for as well as be careful with if moving them around. c4user3622
Switched out the black boxes and will see in next few days if connection gets lost. Dealer not willing to come back till it goes out......Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
