nawty
Dimmer installed for ceiling fan with light kit. Separate circuits for light and fan.I used a Switch for Fan, and a Dimmer for Light I remember when I installed it at first it worked fine, then one night my wife said when the light was OFF, it started to flicker like a bad florescent light. Then the dimming issues started. (Yes bulbs are regular bulbs, not CFL) When I hooked up the red load lead, and work the dimmer it comes on and very bright,When I dim it down it seems to dim slightly, but not much, and sure as hell, not off. When I air gap the dimmer, the light goes out...when I remove the red lead from the dimmer the light goes out. Reset the switch, and also re-identified it just in case. Air gap, and it goes off... I will be removing the existing ceiling fan and checking the wiring there when I replace the fan in the near futureI think the light kit may be wired differently in the canopy of the fan. My question is, has anyone else seen this happen and what was the cause....wiring, the ceiling fan ???
RyanE
It sounds like the fan lights are not 'dumb' lights, like maybe it's designed to be controlled via a remote, etc. RyanE
nawty
Ryan I'm going to pull the fan down after the holidays and investigate. Some loads were wired to fixtures and this switch is in a 4 gang box so the common may not be from the fan I'm thinking maybe this may be the culprit.New (to me) house and it's only been a short while.....Will update after DecemberHappy holidays
