cdepaola
Got home from work this morning and was informed by the wife that the Control4 system was down as of sometime this a.m. They awoke, turned on the lights and started playing some music when they lost all control. My HC800 is on-line at its normal IP address, is pingable, and if I go to its address I get the C4 logo. The only light on the front of the HC800 is the power light which I believe is how it normally is. However I can't connect via any of our MyHome Apps, the SR250's, or Composer. I've attempted to reboot several times and nothing changes. I've been able to SSH into the HC800 as well but not very familiar with any of the commands so used it just to confirm that the box is reachable Thoughts? ILoveC4
Use system manager and make sure director is enabled.
ILoveC4
If it's disabled, there's a patch to fix this. I had that problem before.
Cyknight
If you can ssh in - sysman enable director. And yes it's due to an overrun (generally caused by other netwroked devices) causing director to shut down - the patch will prevent this (though it may cause the controller to reboot when overrun is reached).Talk to Dan
c4user3622
I had same problem earlier this week - came home from a trip and C4 system was offline. Same situation where director got disabled. The link light was off but IP address of controller was still being broadcast. I could even see the different folders in the controller on the network. I contacted Neil (on this forum) who installed a patch remotely and everything working great now. This happened on 2.6 and I have about 50 pingable devices on my network., mostly hardwired. Couldn't control anything - esp TV's which was a disaster with 2 kids who just came home after a 8 hour car ride.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We had this happen last month it disabled our HC800 and clients at the same time one evening mainly I think because the clients system had a couple of HC250's powered down and our network was tunnelled to theirs for about 36hrs (soft lad here forgot to disconnect after remote working!!!) Matt
If you're running 2.6.0 and need the patch please let me know your customer.control4.com account name and i'll apply it. The fix is in 2.7.x if that is easier for you. Matt
badjesus
Does anyone have the KB article number for the patch? This sounds like the issue I KEEP having with my HC800. It is taking every 2 weeks with this same issue. EDIT:Not exactly - it's more general where if it fails to communicate properly with an IP device (in some cases I'm told even if not part of the system) it creates a loop trying to initiate contact that eventually overflows the available memory. This sounds EXACTLY like what is happening with me! I am not seeing the patch though. Does anyone have the KB?
Cyknight
Just go to kb - sub section patches, scroll the list down to the descriptor patch.

Riata
I've lost all contact with my control4. Remote says "waiting for network". Mobile devices say "unable to connect" I"ve read the above but i don't know what System Manager or Director are. I can get into the mycontrol4 portal but I don't see anything useful there. All I see are my mobile devices. I've read the user manual. That's completely useless. The documentation and support from this company are atrocious. On another matter, I dd find a link to upgrade the system software but it asks for a subscription code, which I don't have. My system has 2.21 Any help appreciated. I really don't want to spend another $500 for a service call

c4user3622
you can't access the system manager etc unless you have pro. unfortunately, this one looks like is going to require a dealer...
