FLA
My dealer initailly set all of my Zones to turn on at 40% volume. At 40% the volume on some of my zones is blasting loud and on some other zones 40% is not loud at all. My dealer ask me to go through every zone to see what % volume I want each zone to turn on at. The problem is that there is a huge differential on some of my zones. My preference is for a zone to turn on softly and then can increase the volume to the level I want at the time. For instance a reasonable audio turn on volume level in my kitchen is 10% while the same volume level in my Den (home theater room) is 45%. I am going from zone to zone trying to accertain an even volume level % for each room. Part of the challenge is that whatever volume % I chose is also the % that is used to turn on the video which for some reason needs more power for the same level of volume. My feeling is I'm better off having the zones turn on with a just audible volume and adjust it up verses having it turn on too loud and scrambling to get the volume lower. Is that the norm that most people follow?
nawty
+1 Yes...... You can just create a party mode for a louder turn on if you like also.... but just enough not to hear is my normal programming mode. Otherwise... turn on BAM! and scare the bejeezus out of people. SMHarman
You should also be able to level those inputs and normalize that.

OK ThxYou should also be able to level those inputs and normalize that. That's what I thought. I'll ask my installer this evening.
FLA
My installer did not show up this evening to work on the system. I'm hoping they show up tomorrow to put it to bed. As far as leveling the inputs it might not be as easy as it sounds because the volume percentage for each zone stays the same whether it's music or the TV and the TV level is lower than the music level. So I think I will have to use the TV volume for benchmarking and have the volume open up at a very low audible TV level. I will definitely ask about a party mode level but I would imagine the turn on mode will always be the same and I would have to use the regular turn on mode and then push a party button???? Tokead
Do you have Composer HE? You can set the default volume for each zone in it. That way of you need to adjust it you don't need to call your dealer againSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My system is just at the completion point and it is still being programmed. . I would assume that Composer HE is a PC program to program C4? Do I get it from my dealer? I'm not a big computer guy how difficult is it to use?
Mark LaBelle
Get Composer HE from your dealer. It's just a download from your MyControl4 - https://customer.control4.com/ You'll need to ask your dealer for your login and password. It's real easy and you can get the hang of something like that by just reading the manual. Here's a screenshot of how you can adjust the levels. ILoveC4
Your dealer can set the volume per room, per source too if you can't level out everything. Just have the volume be set based on the source selected.

It is a big help and much appreciated. Is Compser HE software included with 4 Sight or with any portion of the C4 system or is it a seperate purchase? If so do you know the price? I asked my installer about it and he said "it is a slippery road because one wrong setting and it could damage an amp or speaker" That kind of sounds like double talk??? Your dealer can set the volume per room, per source too if you can't level out everything. Just have the volume be set based on the source selected.Interesting because he was acting as if it were a big deal and that the volume for Audio would have to be the same volume for Video. ILoveC4
I have this same problem, and so explain it to him this way. Instead of setting the rooms default volume (which is what he's doing), programmatically set the room volume based on the source selected, triggered by the source changing. Mark LaBelle
You could screw things up, if you were a complete moron, but I'm assuming if you have the money to invest in C4, you aren't a complete moron. :-) It's not a slippery slope, except for him, because what will happen is you'll have issues or questions and it'll take 3 months for him to call you back, because he won't be making any money from you or very little at $100 per/hour. Demand that he gives it to you- you own it and then print the manual out. You can find the manual at http://www.control4.com/docs/product/composer-he/user-guide/latest/composer-he-user-guide-rev-n.pdf And Yes DanH is right, that is a good way too and one that I've done on one room for very specific reasons. I attached a screenshot on how to do it. It's not rocket science. I really hate when dealers act all superior. He's partially right, but seriously, you can't jack up much unless you let your cat run across the keyboard. Hmph! Good luck and let us know if you need additional help. eggzlot
Always create/save a backup before you start to make edits. As Marklabelle says if your cat runs across the keyboard and all goes haywire, just re-install your back up...
