It's a SHAME that I am not a dealer or don't have access to Composer Pro anymore...... I would hook this thing UP!!! In the mean time.... I need to find a dealer/tech that can do this for me..... I have the voicepod, but dealer could never get it to work right...... plus it was to picky in regards to voice pick up

I have this up and running via a skill and http c4 driver. I also have 4 voice pods that work awesome! The thing I don't like about the echo, is it doesn't mute the room when you say "Alexa", like voice pod does. Alexa does understand way better than VP, unless you have the bespoke (I do). I have my VPs setup to ask me questions when certain things happen in the house. Start a movie and VP asks, would you like to close the blinds? Stuff like that. Alexa can't be started from code (not yet, hope that's coming soon) to ask questions. My wife loves Alexa for the shopping list....the kids even add items as they run out.

So for now, my voice pods are staying and Alexa just helps out. I say things like, "Alexa, tell control4 to open the blinds", she sends an http request to my hc800 and then she responds "done" as the blinds are raising.

I have the VoicePod as well, and my wife dislikes it since it rarely listens to her. She'll go through a bunch of "Yes? I believe you said XXXX, is that correct? Try Again. Say a custom command" before I walk in and get it right on the first or second try. By then, we could've just used the remote.

Pretty cool. What's the bespoke? I have the VP, as mentioned, but hadn't heard of that. Good feedback on Alexa and shortcomings. Sounds like you can speak far more naturally with it though?

Sounds like you have VP on strick setting and that's why she verifies all the time. I also found saying "HELLO.....voice pod" helps her wake up better. I also have my voice pod mounted to the ceiling and it works so much better. We also trained the kids, when VP speaks, they don't...lol.

Bespoke is a way to customize VP and it also limits the things she will recognize so "is that correct" goes away. You can move menu items to the first level and even create brand new ones. I have things like, "Hello VP, let's watch a movie" or "hello VP, water the grass" or "Hello VP, activate cooking". If you need help or pointers with VP let me know. I can't get enough of it! Or if you want to sell yours let me know, lol.

Yes, with Alexa you can speak more natural, be she doesn't always get the words right. Definitely some more work on Alexa and solving some of the short comings. Definitely not VP with bespoke.

And yes, I will share my skills script, just let me clean it up a bit. Still messy from testing a such. I built off a script someone else wrote, so it's hacked together a bit.

Let us know what you find!

learned a lot. Have ideas leveraging amazon iot and lamba. With alexa stitching it all together.

Not gonna be that easy. Got a lot to learn!

Oh and I need a really great driver too...lol.

Thanks, I'll look into that. Not personally giving it up just yet... There's one feature I LOVE it for... It's in the bedroom and "Goodnight" shutting down the house and arming the alarm is priceless :)

Any updates here? I would gladly pay for a driver or other such necessities to get this working. Just got an echo. Love it, but no reason it couldn't interface with c4. I worry about c4. Seems like they would rather go out of business before they would adapt their biz model to changing times.
