Hi all,

I'm looking for a basic system to control my home theater room.  I only need the system right now to play movie from BD player/Kaliedscape player, watch Apple TV, Watch Directv (genie Mini) play xbox one and listen to sonos.  What equipment do I need for this?

Equipment

Pionoeer elite reciver

Oppo 103D

Kalidescape Alto

Apple TV 3

Xbox One

Directv Mini

JVC Projector 4910

Sonos

Hue Lights

Thank you for the response...

I guess in the future it could also run the TV in the game room and the TV in the family room.

In this case an HC250 would do. Then a remote, HC260. Most of these devices can be controlled via IP but you can also do IR so if you want to do that add an IO. Some drivers, some programming and boom, done.

Might want a dealer, or remote dealer. Parts can be found all over. Heck I have a brand new 250 for sale.

Thanks for the replys.  I plan to check this out when I return from business trip this week at a near by Magnolia Store.

How would I control my projector with the HC250?  IP?

Do I really need the remote with the IOS app.

Last one, who does the actual programming? Me? someone else?

Thanks,

Depends on the projector. Serial / IP or IR.

Hard remotes are good in viewing rooms. You can find the volume and play/pause in the dark and don't need to wait for the app to wake up and connect.

The connecting and binding the parts together in the software to build a system is done by the dealer. If you purchase composer HE you can then program. Or you can get them to program.

Mike,

I agree with SMH. A hard remote is way better than using a phone in a viewing area. I find that with most people the phone/tablet option is still too slow and when you want something done you want it done now. I know my way around the remote so lights, doors, scenes are quick.

Programming can be done multiple ways but that all really depends on you. I (we) typically recommend a dealer, or remote dealer, Being able to do it yourself is great but without being the in the field daily you will miss the little things. Once the base program is set up doing your own adds can be simple. Any place I have worked we will discourage the person from attempting anything and would charge accordingly when they got in a jam, which happened more than you think.

Just my 2cents.
