SMHarman
Unmanaged. One less point of things to think about. A managed switch usually has to be dumbed down to the point of unmanaged so buy some other toys instead

Axis24
Which type of switch typically integrates better with Control4? Unmanaged. No need for managed switch for C4 integration.

d1amund
See a trend here? Leave the managed switches to IT professionals who have a legitimate need for them.
Stuart England
I have a managed switch (ubiquiti unifi) because I want to do things like see what mac addresses are connected to what ports, see how much power each port is pulling, configure alerts and so on. I also have ubiquiti unifi access points and cameras so it makes sense. Beyond wanting to gain metrics from it the only other reason you might want a managed one is if you have some kind of security or technical requirement to have multiple VLAN's. If you dont need/want any of this stuff then theres no need to have one.
blub
Unmanaged - makes less problems. If you need some "pro" stuff take a "smart" switch. That's what I am using, no problems with C4 but still fail over, trunk and some more stuff.
Cyknight
For C4 - UNmanaged. Excepting some really high-end/complex installs, there is no USE for a managed switch, and if setup wrong it can wreck a system setup.
