KwamiKontrol
I'm currently in discussions with my dealer over my setup, and he suggested to me that an EA5 has over 10 times the compute performance of the HC800 (what I currently have). Does anyone know what CPU is in the EA5? The HC800 has a dual-core Intel Atom (1.8GHz Intel Atom D525). Also, can the HC800 run the lates C4 OS, 2.9.1 (I believe)? If so, is the latest OS based on Android for the HC800 as well?
funnyfarm299
That's nowhere near true. The EA-5 is faster, but nowhere near that much difference. An HC-800 will run 2.9.1, but the new android navigator will only run on an EA controller or T3. Note the actual OS is not Android, just navigator. d1amund
Tell your dealer to do his job, login to the dealer portal goto the knowledgebase and bring up article 1387 (actually read it) and then give you a print out of the PDF.
KwamiKontrol
Thanks guys. I found it very surprising when he stated 10x performance, so I assumed that he was just being very casual with his speech.
Cyknight
Much of the EA5's increase will come from offloading processes onto dedicated chips the EA% has, particularly for audio processing. But no, not 10x - nor is there any need to be 10x faster....
