I'd like to keep my current blinds...are the somfy motors and integrations ok or are there better options?

I have somfy

mylink has been a lil finicky.  Had to do a few factory resets early on.  Since then in 4-5 weeks it did drop once and needed a manual reboot

when mylink is up it’s fine.

I have 2 in. horizontal blinds that I want to control the tilt with...only the tilt.  I'm kinda drowning in the internet (surfing joke) trying to ascertain what hardware I'll need.  I'd like to control them via programming to be 50% (completely flat/open) and 0% or 100% (closed).  I have a bay window with a 110 outlet below it for power.

I purchased my material plus motors plus all hanging accessories and mylink hardware from avoutlet.com - Ken was MORE than helpful pre and post sale.  I cannot sing his praises enough.  Send him a line. He will tell you if he has what you need and give you very clear instructions

Blind Group driver is a driver that allows you to combine multiple shades to show up and act as one shade (there may be delays between the shades, that'll depend on the shades themselves and the driver).

Example, your living room blinds may be split in 3 individual shades (to cover 3 panels, or a maybe a bay window) but you just want to be able to open and close those blinds as 'one unit' as you'll never have them at different settings. Blind Group driver does this for you, without needing scenes, experience button drivers (which don't show under the shades section) or complex (or even easy) programming

I see many people had success with Bali shades and Vera controller.

Question. Can Z-Wave dongle from C4 be used instead to control the shade?

Thank you!

No, the ZWave dongle from C4 can only be used with drivers specifically made for (and by) C4 - the list of which is limited.

Go with Lutron, Hunter Douglas or Somfy. These companies have working and dependable Control4 drivers. IMO, the rest can be tricky and not work reliably.

I'd remove Hunter Douglas (driver is fine, but range on blinds to bridge can be problematic) and add QMotion to that list myself.

I have lutron sivoia qs roller shades in many rooms, they are not c4 integrated, but am pretty sure they can be via QSE-CI-NWK-E if there is a C4 driver for it. Currently the only control I have for the lutron shades is the wall keypad.

I have 4 windows that will be replaced next year with new construction windows, which means jambs will need to be replaced as well. They reason why I was looking at a cheaper motorized blinds is a high possibility of the blinds to be unusable after windows are replaced. So throwing away / donating $250 - $300 binds after a year wouldn't be that bad, plus I would get to play with a cheaper alternative to lutron.

I am also learning that Vera products have been discontinued and the replacement Elzo products don't have a C4 driver. Additionally, Vera firmware update breaks the integration with C4. What is the latest Vera frimware supported by C4?

Thanks

"Trade secrets"

- if your windows will end up a bit smaller, it's easy to change the tube length and fabric width as well as the fascia for most mainstream shades

-If bigger, a tube, fascia and fabric can be ordered saving the motor

-if shorter, no issue just change the limits

-if taller by a bit, there should be a 6-12 inch extra length of fabric already

Of course, online sold stuff won't likely help you here, but a half-decent local/regional blind specialist can get you set up.
If 250-300 isn't too much per blind to get throwaways, you can spend that money replacing a tube and fabric instead (which is a worst-case scenario)
