F0ZZ
I’ve started my rack build and thought I would share a few photos. I had a specific spot I wanted to locate all the gear and because of size restraints and my willingness to make things difficult, I decided to make my own rack. I understand that because I’m building this out of wood, it’s not modular like a metal rack but for the time being, it should serve its purpose well enough. I have a wood shop and lots of scrap material that worked perfectly for this build. All the front panels are removable just in case I change gear and a small drawer was added to hold the remotes and other related gear I’m not using. I’ve just started wiring, so it will hopefully be cleaned up by the time I’m done.
Pounce
Do you have active ventilation? Nice rack
F0ZZ
Active, no. The rack is open at the back. I may add a door, but even then it would have a fully screened panel. I don’t think heat will be an issue?
Pounce
Looked like a built in. If it's open at the back it's probably totally fine. Looks nice. The safety floor there will help when people drool in front of your rack.
F0ZZ
The flooring made sense for the room. Our house is nearly 100 years old so the floors aren’t level in the basement. And yes, it cleans up nicely!
Stevestobo
Great job and far better looking than a metal rack
TheaterExtreme
the drawer is a nice touch. I have my remotes just sitting on the Cisco switch looking lost.
F0ZZ
It helps a lot. I didn’t realize how many remotes I actually had until I put them in one spot.
