H300 12V Relay

Recommended Posts

I've been using the HC300's relay to run a 12v relay switching a waterfall.

The waterfall stopped working, yet C4 still showed as on and off.

I tested the voltage at the relay running the waterfall pump and I'm only getting around 2 volts.

Any thoughts on what has gone wrong with the Hc300?

The relay doesn't provide voltage by itself, it is just acting as a switch. What is the source of the 12V power?  Is it a separate power supply (i.e. wall wart)? Or is it the 12V port of the HC300 Contact connector?

I'm using the 12 V from the HC300 contact as the source of power.

The HC300's relay is the switching.

it runs a 240v relay which runs the waterfall pump.

All has been working well for 2 years.

It stopped working recently and putting a volt meter on the circuit shows only 2-3 V coming from the controller.

I think I need to do some more testing - I just realised I am also using the contact for a garage door sensor - which is working fine.

Would this mean the 12v is likely still working?

or does a contact still work with only 2-3 V flowing?

When you say the contact is burned out - what does this mean exactly?

Thanks

Yes, a contact would still sense only 2-3V.

When you tested, did you test between 12V and GRD directly on the back of the HC-300? Or did you test somewhere else?

So far I have only tested the voltage at the independent relay out in the pool's pump shed.

I have not yet had time to test at the controller, but I did notice my driveway sensor which also uses the 12V contact to power the unit is no longer working - pretty sure that is using the HC300's 12v power supply too.

Finally getting around to sorting out my driveway sensor...

I need some advice to ensure I get this connected up right.

I was powering the sensor using the 12V and GND - I will remove these wires and power the device using an independent 12V supply.

I am sensing using 12V and SIG.  >> If the controller no longer outputs enough voltage to be sensed, how do I wire this up?
