northernlights
Need to run poe to some touchpads over older non twisted existing 6 wire. I see the touch pads use 802.3af standard but it doesn't specify if its alternative a or b wiring. Is this configurable? Can I just use power over the poe and use wifi for the data? lippavisual
TIA A or B wiring standards, you mean? Doesn't matter as long as its the same on both ends of the cable. Never tried your last question because if I'm feeding it POE, it's going to be hardwired into the network and not congesting my wifi.
thegreatheed
TIA/EIA 568-A and 568-B are wiring standards. Just wiring standards, and that's it, they don't have anything to do with power. 802.3af is a PoE standard. Just a power standard. It doesn't have anything to do with wiring. Completely different things.
