South Africa C4 user
My dealer tells me that OS2.10.4 has just been released. Very disappointed that this is not a full new release. Does anyone have any details on what is included? Presumably not simply bug fixes?!? That would not be appropriate for a CEDIA release!
chopedogg88
At CEDIA 2018, Control4 is releasing a software maintenance release (OS 2.10.4), new lighting hardware, exciting new features in the form of new customization options with When >> Then, new streaming services, new drivers, and more. These releases include: • OS 2.10.4 • Control4 KNX lighting • Control4 8-Channel Forward Phase Dimmer • Control4 Mechanical Switches • An EA-1 software update that gives dealers the ability to install additional controllers in a project • New capabilities for When>>Then • Amazon Music driver (now a native streaming music service in Control4 systems) • Updated Deezer driver to support Deezer HiFi • Add Music driver that gives homeowners and dealers the ability to add music services through a touch screen or the Control4 app
thecodeman
Amazon music native, Deezer Hifi Support, When/then improvements, bug fixes, Add Music driver which allows you to add native music services like Pandora or Deezer without needing a dealer. Kind of a low-key CEDIA this year. The EA controllers were slightly refreshed before the show and the EA1 has a PoE model now.

chopedogg88
Amazon Music Amazon Music is now available as a native streaming service on Control4 and Triad Audio streaming products. Control4 customers with Amazon Prime memberships now have instant access to over 2 million songs with their Prime account. Alternately, customers can upgrade to Amazon Music Unlimited (Individual or Family Plans available) for access to tens of millions of songs. Customers can browse and search through Amazon’s extensive library including pre-curated playlists, prime stations, new/popular tracks, and recommended content based on their listening history. Additionally, Amazon’s My Music section displays digital content purchased through Amazon as well as favorited playlists, artists, albums, tracks, and genres. • OS Requirements: OS 2.10.2 or newer • Supported Hardware: EA-1, EA-3, EA-5, HC-800, HC-250, and Triad One • Number of streams supported per driver: Virtually unlimited number of streams* • Maximum bit rate: 256 Kbps • Current Limitations: No favoriting of Amazon Music content, playlist creation, or programming options within Control4. These features will be added when the Amazon Music API is updated to allow them Important: It is currently not possible to favorite Amazon Music content using the Amazon Music driver. This must be done through the Amazon Music web app on a PC/Mac or through the Amazon Music app on your mobile device. Important: *Amazon Music considers the Control4 system a “site”, while other devices, such as the Amazon Music app running on a mobile device are a separate site. If a new stream is started on a different site, it will take over the first stream. However, within the Control4 system (site), a virtually unlimited number of simultaneous streams are available with one Amazon Music driver instance
Vercingetorix
Just successfully upgraded to 2.10.4.553273-res. Will Composer Pro be updated to 2.10.4 as well?

thecodeman
There's a big upgrade to when/then that adds support for the six and three button keypads, which is great.
mallom
EA1 now supports secondary controllers on 2.10.4. This is pretty cool IMO.

However, not recommended in a fully automated home. I wonder at what point would an ea1 start to cough and choke before an ea3 is needed... mallom
Apparently they have the “same” processing power. Just not the same IOs, audio processor and audio outputs. So in theory, whatever the EA3 handles so can the EA1.http://smart-story.ru/files/products/controllers/control4_ea-1/ea-1-performance-comparison-rev-a.pdf
mallom
This can be useful if you have a HC250 as primary and EA1 as slaves. Now u can make the EA1 as primary and use the hc250 as slave.

A good reason to stay on an hc250 or upgrade to at least an ea3.

mallom
Unless you get the audio out from the secondary controller (hc250) and leave the EA1 as director. Can this be done? I dont remember..

terminaldisclaimer
This update is pretty weak, given the last few years at CEDIA. They will finally let you, the person who paid for the system, add a select few music services without have to pay a dealer a few hundred dollars. Revolutionary! Of course those music services won't be the ones that anyone wants. You know like an actual interface for Spotify or Apple Music. Instead. they've added Amazon Music, a service that nobody uses unless they are too lazy to integrate a different music service with an Echo. I wonder if they had to delay a more major feature. Edit: Then again, that hasn't stopped them in the past from announcing features at CEDIA. Perhaps their entire development team was being used to fix the shit show that was the intercom app, and they couldn't develop any new features. Fair enough. I was being a bit hyperbolic. I still can't imagine Amazon Music has anywhere near the number of subscribers that Spotify or Apple has.
