How to get IR code for older Sony stereo

drmark12pa

Question

I'm trying to find out how I can obtain an IR code for an older (circa 1992) Sony stereo that I have that I wouldn't mind using in my utility room.  It still sounds great but would like C4 control of it.  Right now I have audio from my HC800 running into it so I can listen to it while working in that area of the house.  How do I find old Sony IR codes?  I thought my dealer at one time had actually "captured" IR codes using a controller as well.

There's a good chance there is a driver for it, or one of the older stereo receiver coes would work just fine. But yes the IR can be captured if you have the original remote, or even off of a logitech remote if they have a driver for it.

Is there any way to determine which Sony code(s) would work or should I just add in a generic Sony receiver in the room and try them out one at a time?  I assume Composer Pro would be needed to capture the IR codes with my dealer doing the work?
