Recommended Posts

Here is a list I will try to keep up to date with new additions (new edits bolded):

C4 Driver/Hacks Stores/Options
Control4: http://www.control4.com/company/partners/drivers
C4forums.com (here): http://www.c4forums.com/files/

Diamond Design: http://www.diamondhomedesign.com/store/cat-dd_Control4_Drivers-34.aspx

RecluseAV: http://www.recluseav.com.au/recluse-av-driver-estore.aspx
ExtraVegetables: http://www.extravegetables.com/ (Even though EV was bought by C4, some third party drivers will continue to be sold only through this portal)
BlackWire Designs: http://store.blackwiredesigns.com/ , http://blackwiredesigns.com/support/index.php?/Knowledgebase/List/Index/1/control4-apps-4store--drivers
Cinegration: http://www.cinegration.com/category/driver/ (sold through EV)
Yatun: http://www.yatundev.eu/drivers/
HouseLogix: https://www.houselogix.com/shop/control4-drivers
LuaDrivers: http://luadrivers.com
Genesis Technologies: looks like they combined with Yatun
Smart | life Technologies: http://sl-fl.com/ (now just a placeholder, all references to drivers removed)
PocketWare Designs: http://www.pocketwaredesigns.com/
Theory AV: http://www.theoryav.com/blog/
Control4 Hacks: http://control4hacks.com/ (dead/placeholder)
The Drivers Lab http://www.thedriverslab.com/ (formerly C4 Store: http://www.c4store.com)
Forum regular RyanE's site: http://untestedhacks.com/

Synapse Home Automation: http://www.synapseha.com/products/ (sold through EV)

Chowmain: http://www.chowmain.co.nz/ (sold through EV)

Bright Sky: http://www.brightskyhome.com/drivers.php (sold through EV)

Domosapiens: http://www.domosapiens.ca/services.html (sold through EV)

Even if a company has moved sales to EV or another aggregator they may have hacks/beta/information/etc on their sites still

Also check manufacturer sites or ask manufacturers

GitHub also has drivers for XBMC, etc, do some Google searches

(Here was my original post that started this thread):

Alert: noob question sorry if common knowledge.

Is there a good master list of driver provider websites? I know there is the list of certified drivers on C4's web site, but besides that it seems you just have to do a lot of searching here. I'd also be interested to know what are the "standard" drivers every good C4 install has, which may be a thread somewhere as well. I think everyone here is calling them drivers, but some seem to be more utilities than drivers.

Also, is it fair to say that the big difference in certified drivers is that they are supported by C4? Can a non-certified driver cause issues with your system that a dealer or C4 wouldn't support without removal of a driver?

I'm still at a point I can change my mind on some of my equipment choices. For example, I'm kicking myself some "stuck" with GE Concord when I see what Recluse has done with Elk.

I know off the top of my head of ExtraVegetables and Recluse, also I think Diamond, what other users or websites should I check out or keep an eye on for future development?

I know one answer maybe to just talk to my dealer, which I am doing, but I want to make sure he isn't missing anything really cool I could talk him into using.

Thanks!

There is no 'master list'.

ComposerPro by default has 'Local Database' and 'Online Database' options. The drivers in the Local Database start out with a default set of drivers, mostly IR. The Online Database drivers have been submitted to Control4, and are in Control4's online database.

Online database has both Certified and non-Certified drivers.

Then you also have drivers from 3rd-parties:

* Driver sales from ExtraVegetables, BlackWire, and others.

* Drivers on manufacturer's sites

* Drivers on other sites

It's somewhat of a hodge-podge, and as far as I know, there is no Master List. Dealers find drivers for the gear they're interested in, and their homeowners are interested in, or create them for the project.

I tried with luadrivers.com... didn't really take off mostly because I got really busy and didn't have time to dedicate to it... also there's not revenue stream from it so I'm less motivated to do anything with it. :)

Ok, that's what I thought, so I think it would make a great sticky to have an unofficial master list compiled by users here, which seems to be what this thread is accomplishing. Thanks for the summary...didn't realize the C4 database had both certified and non-certified. Hopefully it is kept relatively up-to-date, but even if it is, I learned more specifics about 3rd party drivers from visiting a few websites than I did flipping through the C4 database.

There is no 'master list'.

LuaDrivers isn't for free drivers. There are also paid drivers. I was trying to make a review site where dealers could review existing drivers -- this has been a request from dealers for a while. I didn't have the time and there was/is little interest. It might be shut down in the future.

Is luadrivers.com your site?

Some are free, some aren't. It has both. Also, dont forget this site (on the drivers section).

But see how I avoided that in my description? I called it an "aggregation" site...now if they are free or not I'm off the hook ;)

Thanks for the catch on this site, been a while since I even looked there and I forgot about it. Fixed. Thanks.

ah, coffee, my only true friend...

morning all. lol @ all of ya. let me know if yall ever get that elusive step 2 figured out.

@ turls. while it may not appear that WebRadio is ur typical driver, it was the only way to get WebRadio to work due to some flaws in the C4 dev platform. when i won the competition, i literally waited to the last minute (if it wasn't for that last minute, i'd never get anything done) to submit WebRadio, and within moments of submitting, C4 called up to say how excited they were and that i'd won the competition. now if only i could explain to them why and how it worked, cuz they couldn't figure it out. roughly speaking, i had a cpl of "hacks" and a "patch" crammed in there to make some of the expected media player functionality actually work.

What are you even talking about?
