I can't seem to get it right. I've got an amp controled via IR with control4. Very simple: Volume up/down and Inputs Music and DVD.
When an announcement is made while my music is playing, the music pauses, and when the announcement is finish, the music goes on. Which is great.
Now when I'm busy watching a movie and an annoucement goes off, my amp goes on Music input and stays their.
Could someone give me some advise?

That's because the announcements and music from the controller come off of the same L&R stereo analog cables, which you may have plugged into the receiver on something like CD input. The DVD audio is probably plugged into another port, say DVD. It sounds like the switching is taking place, but not going back to your previous source - because with IR there's no way to get the "current selected source" from the receiver so that Control4 knows what to put the input back on.
So, see if you can put the analog inputs for your music on the same input for your DVD player. Your bindings will need to be changed by your dealer. Other options would be to use a receiver with RS232 control, or to add programming to say "when the announcement fires, if current selected source in the room is music, wait 10 seconds (for the announcement to finish) then set current input in the room back to the music." Something like that. Hope that helps.

I have a string variable in place that tracks the audio/video source used in every room, all the time. I use this variable for all sorts of things, it works out great. You could do the same thing, and use that string variable to track the video source PRIOR to the announcement firing, and then program it to bounce back to that video source.
This is of course in theory, because I have no idea how your entire setup is wired on anything like that. I use a Control4 Amp with in ceiling speakers for distributed audio and announcements, and then I just use the TV speakers or a dedicated receiver for audio/video together (IE: DVD, DVR, Cable, EVA9150, etc...). This makes it really nice because the announcements can fire without ever interrupting the video source, because the audio is routed to two seperate places.

Could you do a write-up on the blog about AV tracking? I need some inspiration to start incorporating some of this. Thanks.

I've received several requests for that since this post.
It sounds like quite a few people are interested, let me see what I can whip together.
Stay tuned at C4Central.com.
Did you guys like my writeup on how to create a sleep timer? http://c4central.com

Awesome, awesome. I am using it for the kids rooms. They don't have TVs yet but do like to fall asleep with this lights on (they don't pay the bills...) so I sustitute "Room OFF"" with the various loads.

That works great, unless you want to turn of the DVD player, the EVA9150, the music, a BlueRay, your cable box, etc...
I never said mine was easy, but it sure has a lot more functionality. Especially using multi-taps to increment the time, etc...

Don't you need the dealer to clone the IR command for that function?

Not if it is already built into the driver. If he needed to modify the driver then you're correct, he would need a dealers involvement (or a pirated copy of Composer Pro).

Dan, very nice job! I got about half done tonight (lots of code with this function) and put into use announcements for when someone is on a source that is already in use.

Thank you.
That's great you got it going. I do that with the announcements at my house too. It is a very useful thing to have in place.
Congrats, and good job!
Hey stenkb, please don't hop in here and tell us it would be easier to simply go to the other room and check what they are using. We already know that. This way is more fun ![]()
