Problems with multiple zones / rooms going on at the same time

My dealer did some quick touch ups to my system and now when I turn on the master bedroom, the living room goes on to the same inputs.  Also, when I try to turn on one music zone, the entire house goes on.  I think this is a simple solution but don't know enough about the system to fix it.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Re: Problems with multiple zones / rooms going on at the same time

Do you have any media scenes active?

Note, my site has been moved to www.c4diy.com.  Most of my write-ups have been restored, and there are some new ones also.  I should have all the old ones restored soon.

There is a lot of fun new things planned that will be coming online soon, so stay tuned.

First you need your dealer to come back and tell him that he f up your audio end points, then in that same manner you should tell him to leave your house and get a different dealer. Coz what he messed up was pretty basics.

Re: Problems with multiple zones / rooms going on at the same time

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion Neil.  It sounds to me like there is a media scene active that shouldn't be, but of course I could be wrong.

It certainly could be an end point issue.

Re: Problems with multiple zones / rooms going on at the same time

There are media scenes - all on music and all off music.  If I delete these, will that solve the problem?  I did try to deactivate it but when you reactivate another zone, the whole house goes on.  The end points are fine according to another dealer.

Anyone have a solution to the master / living room solution? Thanks again for your input.

And, the dealer is now gone (moved away) so I will be on a lookout for another one.

Also, if these are basic issues that don't require any changes to the physical connections, can this be done remotely?  I do have my backup file.  Thanks.

The reason why I believe it's an end point issue Dan is coz when he turns on that "one" music zone the entire house goes on.With standard programming to this it would be easerly noticable. But I could be wrong in which case I'll go to bed smarter tonight.

Re: Problems with multiple zones / rooms going on at the same time

davevt98, can you post a copy of your project file please?

I would bet that the media scene is the culprit, but we shall look and see.

Re: Problems with multiple zones / rooms going on at the same time

Have you rebooted the system?  I haven't looked too deep into anything yet, but nothing is standing out.  It looks like he has some IR buds doubled up, but they aren't for devices that should conflict.

Try rebooting the system, AFTER you make sure those media scenes are deactivated.  I would reboot everything.

I'll give it a try.  Sounds too easy but hopeful it will work.  If you do notice something, please let me know.  Thanks.

Re: Problems with multiple zones / rooms going on at the same time

No problem.  I will try and take a deeper look at it later today, but no promises.

Let me know if the reboot changes anything.

Re: Problems with multiple zones / rooms going on at the same time

Will do.  I 'll try it this evening and post afterward.  Just to clarify, if this works, should is solve both my problems - music and tv on/off?  Thanks again.

Found out how to post project. Any other comments are appreciated. Thanks.

So, did a reboot do you any good?

Re: Problems with multiple zones / rooms going on at the same time

It did help but now it is still doing the same thing.  I am considering just deleting the media scenes and will see if that fixes anything.

Re: Problems with multiple zones / rooms going on at the same time

You said that's its was after your deaer made some change to your system that this happened, so the quetion is did you ask him to do any changes to your madia scenes. I never ask my dealer to touch my media scenes coz it's something I could quite easily do on HE. Also what kind of amp do you have, how many and if more than two, how did you connect them ( this is where you have to be very precise on your explanation)?

My dealer came in and made some changes to my entire system as we added a tv, added a receiver to a second room, and troubleshooting some things from phase 1.  He has made almost all changes to the system.  I do have access to composer pro so I have tried to tweak some things but haven't done anything major as I just don't understand everything.

I have the control4 16 amp.  Let me know if I need to do explain anything more precisely.  I am not a huge audiophile so my explanations may not always be spot on.  Thanks.

It is OK to split (attach multiple) IR bugs to a single IR output on a C4 controller. I have done it when I did not have enough IR ports on my controller for all the equipment. You just can't have identical equipment on the same IR port.

I agree but I asked why, coz it could be part of his problem.

Re: Problems with multiple zones / rooms going on at the same time

Neil, I looked at his project and hi can assure too the spitting of the IR isn't the problem.

Dave, when you say out helped kind of, what exactly do you mean? What problem went away and what persisted?
