Have you tried using a supported Windows 7 OS?First silly reply as to date every composer instance has worked fine on windows 8 for me.From the microsoft website install .NET frame work 2 AND 4 (most win8 will come with 4.5 which covers .NET4, read the info I think 3.5 includes a full .NET2 and is more stable).If that doesn't work try installing an older HE version (say 1.8, then 2.2.4) and see if it can be isolated more as to where the issue lies.
