Separate Audio Source for Cable TV

Here is the scenario were trying to figure out how to set-up if possible. Occasionally we like to listen to music while there is a picture on the TV sometimes we don't, this post is about those times that we DO.

First, I currently am able to have a picture up but first we must choose from the WATCH list and select the source/channel we wish to watch. Next we move to the LISTEN list and choose the audio source we wanted to watch thus causing us to lose control of the video selection. It seems like there must be a better solution so we can have the best of both worlds, that is being able to change channels on the cable box AND be able to choose music sources and stations as normal through the touch screens ios apps.

I currently have a sonos that runs its analog output into a C4 matrix and the digital output into an AVR with assignable digital inputs. So at the AVR I have sonos I have an AUX input set with my Cable TV HDMI as the video source and the Sonos Digital Audio input as my Audio Source. The way I envision this working is that under the Listen list I have to Sonos Options, 1 that is for no video and the second with video.

Is is possible to assign a single source component two two different choices under something like the Listen list?

Will it be possible to assign the Sonos as an Audio Source and my Cable Box as a video source within Composer?

Does any of this make sense?

Control4- Please listen to this request as it has appeared numerous times. Dealers, please chime in (again) with the workaround to this as I know you guys know how to make this happen. I do it according to what is currently avail. under C4 scheme but it is several steps of button pushing.

The current workaround is to establish a a second (virtual) room that calls on the amp to do audio from one source while the panel does video from another source or, more recently, switches audio (same source) from either TV or distributed audio.

So, the way I do this works very well, but it's SUPER involved. I can post more details if you need, but here's a high level view.

I use a variable to track the last audio source, and the last video source. So, for example, in the great room when I select Dans DVR as the video source, it sets the variable Great Room Video Source to Dans DVR. When I select DIGITAL AUDIO in the Great Room, the variable for audio changes, but the video variable stays the same. Then, you have to map out each command from the remote that you want to use, with conditionals for sources based on that variable.

IE: When GUIDE button is pressed:

If great room source is DIGITAL AUDIO

If Great Room Video Source Variable = Dans DVR

Send command GUIDE to Dans DVR

If Great Room Video Source Variable = Kids DVR

Send command GUIDE to Kids DVR

etc...

You need to create all that for each button, with conditionals for each audio/video source. It was a pain in the ass and took quite a while to do initially, but it's really nice. We actually do this quite often.
