cannemi Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 I installed the Doorbell today from ELK and I am trying to program it so that when the doorbell is pressed it will turn on all the TV's and Display the Camera feed at the front door. I am having a hard time figuring out how to do it. Any thoughts. See pichttps://picasaweb.google.com/100413900432581703924/January182013?authuser=0&feat=directlink
pharmdsmith Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 When Doorbell is pressed ->Send Command Control4 to "room" ->Select bookmark "front door" on Navigator HC250"Room" is what ever rooms with tv's that you want the camera image on.For each navigator (controller) you need to create a bookmark that takes you directly to the front door camera. Then you will be able to use the bookmark for the 2nd line. If you have other controller's navigators involved you will want to create the same bookmark and add a line to select it for those navigators.
cannemi Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 Do you create the bookmark in composer or on The controller itself?
pharmdsmith Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 On the navigator screen. Then the bookmark will show up on composer to program around.
cannemi Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 I figured out how to get the bookmark in place. Do I need composer PRO to add the bookmark? I don't know where to find it in compserHE
cannemi Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 I found it, Wow that was easy! Thanks so much
cannemi Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 I was just thinking of something. What if you want to turn the room off after 2 minutes. How would I add that via a timer? So I have it now where everything turn on ok, but I want it to turn off after 2 min
dogdvr Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Create a timer under agents, name it something like "turn off tvs after doorbell"Make the timer for 2 minuteswhen you execute the other programming from the doorbell press, add start timer "turn off tvs after doorbell"then when timer expires, create programming to shut off tvsBrentOne other thing have you taken into consideration of what will happen when the doorbell is pressed and you are already watching tv?
cannemi Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 Great thanks. I guess I will have to put a conditional in
iez Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Hi Cannemi,I am reading this you wrote 2 years ago regarding programming the Control4 Door bell camera to be able to be displayed at a TV.Were you able to do it successfully?I am installing my system now but the installer's technician is telling me that the video feed form the door bell can't be played either on TVs or ipads... Only on the Control4 touch screens. Please help!
Cyknight Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 That info is correct - the C4 doorstation camera CANNOT be shown outside of the intercom in any way shape or form. The camera spoken of here is a normal camera, and it uses a normal dorrbell to trigger from.
iez Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Thanks for clarifying Ckynight !! My installer says it will work with a software update that C4 will release soon (6 months max). Do you think this is believable? Thanks That info is correct - the C4 doorstation camera CANNOT be shown outside of the intercom in any way shape or form. thecodeman Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Thanks for clarifying Ckynight !! My installer says it will work with a software update that C4 will release soon (6 months max). Do you think this is believable? ThanksI havent heard that, but anything is possible.
Cyknight Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I haven't heard that - and that AFAIK it IS impossible as the current limitation is due a problem with how the chip in the unit itself operates. No software update will fix that. A new station may be possible, but again, I haven't hear about it.

Cyknight Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 When it comes to the current unit - no money or time will take care of a fault in the chip that limits broadcast within SIP only as it's direct encoded into that. Poor game by C4 for not checking that, poorer still by manufacturer for doing it and being unclear on the fact.

iez Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Thanks for your help Cyknight, thecodeman !Do you know of any other video doorbell that can work flawlessly wit C4 and that broadcast the video feed to TVs or ipads? And also taht it can be opened remotely from the control4 app or something similar? Thanks Isaac
iez Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Hi Cyknignt,I see that you have also responded to other doorbell posts. You explained that there is a way to use another IP camera video feed in order to have more flexibility and range of view. On my front entrance I will also have an IP camera, so I guess i could do what you propose, but can you tell me if there is a way to trigger an event so that th e image from the IP camera is viewed on TV or ipad whenever the C4 doorbell button is pressed? Thanks Isaac
Cyknight Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Yes, you bookmark/favorite the IP camera first (can't do that full screen I fear) - once bookmarked you can call up the OSD, then issue a programmed command to go to that bookmark/favorite
