snipboy
I will have feedback on this very topic early next week. I am assuming you've seen the Zigbee chips "100jen" is selling on Ebay? I got one a few weeks ago from the seller and put into one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kwikset-911TNL-TRL-11P-SMT-SmartCode-Lever-Venetian-Bronze-/260994211572?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cc4779ef4 . Hope to have my dealer set it up then. She sells a lot of them, so if there were a problem "i would hope" she would stop.
cashmoney
Can you share how the installation of the module into the lock went? We're instructions included, was it just obvious how it installed, did you need to solder anything, etc...

cashmoney
Ok... I purchased one of these modules myself, couldn't wait for an answer any longer...The seller shipped quickly and the product was received in good condition. No instructions were included but upon removing the back cover it became clear immediately where the module plugged in and the installation literally took seconds. The appropriate Kwikset and generic door relay drivers were installed, the lock was identified, and was up and running in about 4 minutes total. I will say the average selling price has gone up some since they were mentioned here. Currently they are going for about $70 a month ago I was seeing them sell for $35.Don't know where this lady got all of these zigbee modules but she's got a lot as shes been selling them for sometime now. ILoveC4
Oh there's always ways Nice option to be out there though, especially for the more DIY oriented. You can buy the lock without the module for about $100...add the module for $70 and you're half the price of buying one from C4. My current dealer is very free with showing me his price sheet and he's not buying them for $170, close but not close enough he'll sell them to me for that cost. snipboy
Sorry for the delay, Cashmoney. I got my module and I did have it bound, but it has not worked since I got it. The lock itself is working, but for some reason the generic driver is not working. I am a bit baffled about it. Still early in the process here. C4 HC found the module, it is just not responding. Right now it is in "offline" mode for no explainable reason. Each time I got o the lock and enter my code and lock it is working though...
cashmoney
You have both drivers installed, the Kwikset one as well as the generic door lock relay? You've bound the Kwikset to the generic driver?Mine failed its update but I think that was more of an issue with me playing with batteries at the wrong time. alf1096
Will the chip fit in any push button kwikset lock.
snipboy
It appears so. The same woman who sells these Zigbee chips also sells zwave ones and they appear to look exactly the same. I got this Kwikset http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kwikset-911TNL-TRL-11P-SMT-SmartCode-Lever-Venetian-Bronze-/260994211572?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cc4779ef4 and it fit and identified. I haven't seen any others that came with a zigbee or zwave chip in it, yet there is an open slot for one.
cashmoney
This has been comical to see, the prices on these modules have shot up for the seller almost 100% since this thread opened up. She should be giving a kickback to rydbeckc for the mention here, its obvious people here are buying. With the last one selling for $100 your now approaching the cost of just buying from your dealer if you have a good relationship with them. I'm waiting for users here that are interested to get some bought up and we'll see prices fall again.I hear you...at $100 for the module it's getting to where it doesn't make sense any more. snipboy
I've had a lot of people PM me about my experience with the module. Here are the answers to the questions folks have:-Yes, this will fit in any SmartCode Branded Kwikset lock -- both the Deadbolts and the standard lever ones-If the Kwikset driver does not work, try the Black and Decker. That one worked for me thanks to a Japanese Mythical Monster member of this board who wishes to go nameless for the time being ;-)-It can appear that the Kwikset driver is working even when it is not -- your dealer should test locking/unlocking throughly remotely or in person-If you use the Black and Decker driver, you cannot use the Kwikset app to manage users with it. You must use the Black and Decker app. However, you can look and see stats (time door unlocked, etc) in the Kwikset app-You can configure the lock in Composer HE with no problems-IT will come shipped in a very strange shipping container formed in a cylinder of sorts-Recommend installing ASAP. The chips are fragile and if there is a problem you can send it back quickly for a refund/replacementIt was a good deal for a while, like Dan said, but with the overzealous interest it makes more sense to buy one with the chip already in it for the 149.00 that is frequently offered on Ebay. I have three of them and they work great--tremendous value. Finding the lever ones with Zigbee is significantly more difficult, if not impossible. I can't find one through a dealer or elsewhere online. That's really when you want to get the chip. For my purposes, it all worked out quite well and I bought in when the chips were relatively low. All told, I spent less than 100 total on both. YMMV.
Chris_AU
Can anyone tell me if ALL the Kwikset smart locks have the option of adding a zigbee card, or do you have to buy a particular model that has the facility?Oh, and you don't want to know how much the dealers charge for these locks in Australia... It's criminal...Cheers,Chris

esmadja
Does anyone know if this particular model from KWIKSET model #99100015 will work with Control4. It says it is HAI zigbee. Will there be issues because of Zigbee vs Zigbee Pro?Thanks,
