msgreenf
Anything will work. You can wire up a door sensor and a button relay on any door Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
playsccr
Thank you. I realize anything will work, but what new motors will work better than others? ease of install and connectivity with C4? thanks

msgreenf
Right. Any door and motor. They all integrate the same. Door rail sensor and relay for button Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Cyknight
Well that's not entirely true actually. More and more doors don't use a relay trigger on the motor anymore, but a 2-way communication with the opener. These you cannot just tie in a relay to the motor anymore. That said, you WOULD still use a relay, but you have to tie it to the unit's opener instead of the motor direct. So in that sense EASIEST is any of the more basic openers, ie not the ones with time indicators, built-in options for app control and so forth. cdepaola
It's still easy, I think easier, to just solder to the remote. Then you also get all the good features of the newer opener Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cyknight
This from the one in doubt of whether he could solder or not? Screwing two wires in has to be easier than soldering two wires as well as finding WHERE to solder those wires. Though yes I find it easy enough indeed, and I never said it was difficult.Nor did I mean to say you should NOT buy a door opener for that reason. If you assume that you just tie the relay to the two contacts on those motors you may find yourself scratching your head.

I've since gotten a few little kits from places like iFixIt to practice my soldering skills.
