alanchow
Chowmain - eGauge Energy Monitoring Driver eGauge is an affordable, flexible, secure, web-based electric energy and power meter that can measure up to 30 circuits. It is used to measure and record total building electrical consumption, solar, wind, consumption of individual circuits, such as appliances or geothermal system pumps, and motors. The Chowmain eGauge driver provides live data feedback from the eGauge unit. This data can be viewed on the Control4 T3 touch screens. The data can be used in Control4’s programming as variables or have a minimum and maximum event trigger set in the driver itself. This provides live automated responses to changes in energy usage. Features eGauge web interface can be viewed on any T3 touchscreen (we recommended the 10") Polled Instantaneous Feedback for: Irradiance Frequency Current Reactive Power Pressure Power Volumetric flow Mass-flow Resistance Apparent Power Total Harmonic Distortion Temperature C Voltage Numeric Monetary Angle Relative humidity Speed Charge Minimum & Maximum events for each register Frequently Asked Questions Can you give us some examples of how we could use this driver? Utilise this driver to optimise PV solar usage within the home. Rather then guessing and scheduling smart appliances to turn on during the day you now can turn it on based upon high PV solar, wind or hydro power generation. Utilise the driver to detect and warn home owners of faulty equipment that may be utilising an excessive amount of power (e.g. faulty UPS) Warn the home owner if they have left on the oven on for too long or any other device on dedicated circuits. Shut down delicate equipment upon over or under voltage. Automate energy savings when energy usage is too high by dimming lights and setting back HVAC set points. Are there any other cool things we can do with this driver? eGauge offers remote power monitoring services via their online portal. Our driver works with this portal and as such can be used to monitor remote sites even if the remote site doesn’t have a Control4 system. What hardware will this work on? This will work on the eGauge core and pro systems. How do i view historical data? You can view historical data and live data via any T3 touchscreen. How do i view the usage data on my Control4 iOS or android device? Both of these navigators do not support 4store applications. If you want to view your usage data we recommend viewing the eGauge directly via its inbuilt web server on any web browser. How do I find out more information about the driver? Please see the links below for more information about the driver. CFUG
Finally giving in. Just signed a deal for nearly 10kW of PV generation here. Will install eGauge. Alan, could you please restate how I would go about viewing instantaneous data remotely? I assume that any 4Store app is not available to view through MyHome... Also, any other screen shots to share of the driver in action? Thanks
turls
So glad this is being offered. Need to put some thought into if there is even any reason to wait for C4 to finally do something with the Eragy purchase now...I think the biggest missing piece is still being able to do something based on the current price of power for those of us on hourly pricing. If you look at the installation guide on our website you will get an idea of how it works (few screenshots there). The eGauge unit itself has an inbuilt web server which outputs alot of data. Use this for remote access and for access on non flash based MyHome devices.
CFUG
I read that the driver is spec'd to run on OS 2.5. What about 2.4?
alanchow
It should work on 2.4. Having said that it has not been tested on 2.4. If you choose to do so please utilise a demo licence first to test on your system prior to licence purchase.

ThanksPLEASE let me know how this goes - Just signed my 10.8 kW system yesterday and it is being installed in ten days - eGUAGE was offered to me and I was interested to know if it could be interfaced to the house. Can you give me an idea - I do NOT really NEED to interface this to the house - I can have all the benefits of the eGUAGE without integration - what would benefit me from integration? Alan? What could I do it if it was integrated? I need someone to kick start my thought processes on benefits please? Thanks,Bill
alanchow
eGauge integration will provide energy feedback into your Control4 system. You can set minimum and maximum event triggers per clamp which will fire when the energy consumption/generation exceeds that amount. When it does you can program whatever you want to turn on or off for the event. Examples are. High solar PV generation turns on smart appliances or high energy usage dims lights and turns off un-necessary devices. At the end of the day its realy upto you what you want to achieve with these event triggers and it will be unique to your particular system. What could I do it if it was integrated? I need someone to kick start my thought processes on benefits please? Thanks,BillSystem parts for me are 4 weeks out. I switched at the last minute to Sunpower/ABB microinverters. ABB provides discrete panel output, total PV production and instantaneous grid usage all on the same graph. eGauge will take that further by time-graphing grid, renewable and discrete clamp activities. Alan's driver will read the clamps and warn of devices unintentionally left on (somewhat redundant as this could be done w/o this driver), warn of device malfunction or excessive I-draw/wear, caution one of us that too many devices are running during low PV production. I'll think of some other stuff. Again, PM Turls as he has both PV and eGauge already installed.

alanchow
I'm glad that I can run more than one 3000. Thank you for that feature! You can run multiple drivers in a system however if you choose to use the 4store app it will only display one.So far most people don't really care about 4store. Seems like everyone just wants to set and forget.
CFUG
For baseline conservation work, it would have come in handy to display multiple units. The best I can do now is program room-level LEDs green, yellow, red for bin-style power level. That or walk around with a laptop...
