alanchow
Chowmain - Generic Fan Controller DriverInfra red fans are widely available around the world. Chowmain's Generic Fan Controller Driver allows you to easily integrate multi speed IR fan's into Control4 for increased comfort in your home. Our driver introduces a low cost multi speed fan solution since no expensive hardware is required (infra red hardware comes standard with on all Control4 systems).Once integrated you can use your android tablet, iPad, Control4 touchscreen or system remote control to control you fan. You can also schedule your fan to turn on, control your fan remotely or even adjust the fan speed based upon temperature variables in your home.Infra-red fan's and fan controllers can be obtained from manufacturers such as Clipsal and Lutron. Note this driver will work with any infra-red fan with discrete infra red codes.FeaturesMultiple ModesOffLowMediumMedium HighHighDefinable Hex IR codes in propertiesEasy to manageCan have multiple copies of the same driver with different IR codesDefinable IR repeat counts.Optional On code can be sent before any speed change to ensure the fan is on (not required by most IR fans)IR BindingYou can bind it to any infra red output in your Control4 system.Definable Preset LevelCan be configured to Low, Medium, Medium High or High. This is used for when a toggle or on command is issued (usually by the Control4 SR-250).Frequently Asked QuestionsCan you give us some examples of how we could use this driver?Multi speed fans have always been hard to integrate into Control4. In the past people would try to use dimmers (a big no no) or add in multiple relays which is extremely costly and the user interface is clunky. This solution is an inexpensive and elegant solution which works with infra-red controlled fans that are available all around the world. Best thing is that you don't need any additional hardware. Are there any other cool things we can do with this driver? This utilises the new Control4 fan proxy which is only utilised in the Control4 Fan Speed Control (C4-4SF120). As it is a 120 volt product only, alot of countries will not have access to this product. As such many of you won't be familar with this proxy. This new proxy gives you the ability to control multi speed fans on a singular user interface (under the lighting page). The speeds shown are off, low, medium, medium-high and high. What hardware will this work on?Pretty much any Control4 system on OS 2.5.3 (HC200,250,300,500,800,1000)How do I find out more information about the driver? Please see the links below for more information about the driver.Download Installation GuideHow do I buy the driver? This driver is developed by Chowmain software & apps and is distributed and supported by Houselogix, Inc. Slammed1000
I'm wondering if the defect with the fan proxy has been resolved yet. I've heard it may have been with 2.6, but haven't heard anyhing regarding 2.5.3. I'm also curious if this bug is only third party driver related or if it is also an issue when using the C4 fan speen control unit as well?. alanchow
Some people were complaining about how the fan comes up under lighting. Unfortunately this is a Control4 problem which we can't resolve. Instead what we have done is create a experience button which allows you to select any fan proxy and allow for 3 speed fan control with feedback. It will auto map the speeds based on capabilties of the fan proxy driver selected. Mapping will be lowest (1), highest (depending on capabilities) and will the following math for the medium speed (highest / 2 rounded up). It is a free driver and is bundled with this driver. chopedogg88 and msgreenf
