My movies 5 and EV driver

Recommended Posts

If you haven't already done so you need to do that--is it out of beta?  I don't think that means you need to rush out and install MM5 and then send it if you aren't upgrading anyway.  But its been long enough ago I can't remember for sure.  Would be nice to get an update from the company...

So without my dealer having the correct credientials, I cannot install My Movies 5 and have C4 work with the driver? Correct?

find the old thread here on this. Contact mm and get YOUR legacy status flagged and off you go.

Hi guys,

I can surely update the guidelines on this. My Movies 5 have been released as final, containing a lot of new features.

End-users no longer have access to the API, and therefore to Control4 usage in My Movies 5, as in My Movies 4.

Guidelines for existing systems

Existing users, meaning users who purchased the full 2500 points, which gave the API and Control4 access before June 1'st, where we released My Movies 5 can write support@mymovies.dk with a confirmation that their My Movies solution was installed and purchased by themselves, and have not been provided by a professional. Then we make a marking on their user account that they are allowed to use the API also under My Movies 5.

Users who have had their solution installed by a professional (here we are talking the My Movies solution, and not the general system) should contact their professional supplier, and the supplier should then join our installer program - which they should have done in the first place, as the installation made is actually in violation of our license terms (and always have been).

Professionals who supplied an existing solution to one or more customers can join our installer program, and emailing us the transaction id's of the purchase or purchases made for customer machines. The normal sign-up fee applies, but we will credit the installer account the value of the number of licenses previously purchased as end-user licenses, allowing the installer to apply proper licenses on all existing machines.

New installations

It is still our belief that the My Movies solution provides an ideal solution for users on managing meta-data for their Control4 system - this have not changed, but have only been made stronger with My Movies 5. It is however important for us that these solutions, is supplied by professionals who can guideline the customer on the system - just the same way as the Extra Vegetables driver is also supplied though the professional market.

This means that end-users who today choses to purchase an end-user My Movies installation will not have access to the API and Control4 usage, and no users will be given access if their purchase was made after June 1'st.

End-users should go through their dealer to purchase a license. We hope that the dealers will join the My Movies installer program to be able to supply the solution to their customers, but if you have a dealer that do not want to do that, you may contact us, and we will try to get you connected to one of our existing dealers.

If anyone, end-users or professionals have any question at all, let us know.

Best regards,

Brian Binnerup

Unfortunately, the support has the same issues it had before the change.  I was hoping that would be fixed.  Its still hit and miss if you get responses on the forum or by sending an e-mail.  I have what should be a simple question that I could not find an answer to in the My Movies forums, and I have not gotten any response in 9 days.  If stuff is going to continue to slip through the cracks, you should consider investing in a support system that auto-responds to e-mails and tracks requests, like most other tech companies have.

Here is the question in case anybody sees it here first:

You can access the My Movies configuration from both the WHS tools or from the Collection management on the client PC.

It does not exclude you from having operations run in both places, for example, I can have both WHS 2011 and client running the metadata operations.  This can cause issues.  Another example is database backup scheduling.

Currently I run the backups from WHS 2011 and I do the metadata operations from the client.  Is this correct?  And is just unchecking everything under metadata options in WHS 2011 sufficient so you do not duplicate operations or cause other issues?

This seems like a bug, the settings should either only be in one spot or there should be some warning if you have them setup both places?
