Ethernet Speaker Point

I have a spare AVE-RAA1-B and it doesn't have any IR outs on it.  Maybe you have an older version that does or you have had too many Mudlights.

It definitely has the IR outs on it but when I look at the Control4 documentation online there is no mention of them.

The wireless ones will continue to work if wired. The reasoning isn't so backwards really - the units are an 8 year old design and limited to low bandwith wifi, some of the newer listening options just can't be done over WiFi to them.

I think both are EoL now? could be wrong. If not - likely soon, though I don't know if there will be a replacement.

I used to like them a lot to add an extra music zone, or to retro an impossible location for some music, but like I mentioned, they are outdated at this point in time.

I've never liked the speaker points anyway.

They have a place. I bought two for rooms I never though I'd put speakers in. Proven wrong 2 years later. They're wired but I have wireless waiting to use at Halloween.

My dealer gave me one and I bought one on ebay for like $50.  Junk or not, they can get you into another zone for little effort.  It's not a problem to not have WiFi capability- that's what powerline is for.

They can play anything that could be streamed out of a controller EXCEPT that with added WMA support in current updates, those tunein stations won't play.

So yes, that includes any source connected to any controller INPUT

What options will they be providing as an alternative? I have speaker points in my daughters' rooms and need to keep something in them

Again, to my knowledge they will continue to work in 2.6 and on, wireless may be unavailable (I'll have to check details). It's still a possibility to go 'wireless' in a roundabout manner, such as the netpork over power or separate wireless adapters that use N etc.

As for new units to replace the current line - I don't work for C4 and have heard nothing about them as a dealer beyond the fact that it would be looked into, which means little.

The wired speaker point will work, wireless one is going bye bye.

I use my Speaker Points for the separate bathrooms and the kitchen, I do have one WiFi version that I had to hardwire when I upgraded my system rto Zigbee Pro and I haven't had a problem.
