twmoonly
why do you recommend this over an NVR per a camera manufacturer? I see that you can use any camera company which is a big deal but what other benefits does this have?
eggzlot
It's a huge deal being able to pick your own cameras Saves a ton of money and gives flexibility to pick the best camera for a setup not just what your locked down NVR will accept great interface. Simple to set up. Tons of features. Great user forum for help.
sturama
+1 for what Eggzlot said. The ability to spec your own commodity hardware can be huge. I also have i7 setup: runs WSE 2012, BlueIris, Plex, and Unifi controller.

istreich
Keep an eye on Dell deals and find an optiplex 9020 (or 7020) with an i7 4th gen processor for approx $500. I found one for $510 with a 128gb SSD, Windows 10 and 8 Gb Ram (more than you need) and I did add a western digital 4 Tb HD for I think $100. Add Blue Iris and TeamViewer for remote access and put the box in a hidden place. It works great and in the medium run, it will be cheaper, faster and more powerful than anything else.
