andy.cytexone
I found this Universal iPod dock which you can control via IR. Has high fidelity outputs and can even allow you to view video (requires video-capable iPods). This should resolve requests for integrating people's ipods into their environments and having control via a C4 remote (once you learn the IR codes).http://www.xitel.com/product_hflipod.htm
hgrace
And how do you feedback view the actions other than at the iPod? Does it have a video out ? Use it as a Video In oon the MC ?If one needs to look at the ipod to do so one might as well use it or am I missing something.
andy.cytexone
Ah, I know what you're asking. I was thinking of this as a solution for popping your ipod into a dedicated dock in a rock, and having access, say, from the media controller. I should have been cleaerer. It was more for idea's sake than anything else, as I'm sure it could help someone out.The video feedback device I believe you're asking for is located at this thread: http://www.c4forums.com/viewtopic.php?id=221You can switch to the ipod on-screen (similar to control4 on-screen navigation) and navigate the contents of the ipod. I believe this device would solve that problem. Having not tested it (not out until march of this year).

danlevine
Thats cool.... I can definately see family members bringing over ipods and plugging them into the system and displaying the photo albums on the tvs.... I wish it had a better output then composite.. terrence
Can anyone offer a non-technical end-user some simple advice for moving my IPOD music files onto my C4 media controller?? Id rather not invest the time to rip them one at a time in the CD drive on the Media Controller. I have about 100 albums on my Itunes.Note: I am only slightly more technical than your mothers. maxspivak
MC only supports MP3s.Music that you bought at ITMS has DRM applied to it, it won't work on the Media Controller ever (legally).iTunes *defaults* to AAC (MP4). If you ripped all your albums on the default setting, you'll need to transcode it to MP3. It's doable inside iTunes before copying it to the MC, see this: http://www.macworld.com/2004/09/secrets/septemberdigitalhub/index.php (search for Unprotected AAC to MP3 inside article, should work on both PC & Mac). Now, export the directory that has your MP3 files and import it into the MC to it, via Composer "External Storage" entry (or something like that).Max
