VideoDemon
I am trying to add an action for my TV when I select Room Off. I want to change the input selection on the TV before turning if off. Here is what I did: On left - select When variable "room" Power State changes If Room Power is Off Change the TV input Turn off TV Unfortunately, the TV turns off immediately as part of the TV set of actions on Room Off, so the change in input does not work. Is there some way to prevent the Room Off from doing anything (I can turn off the devices separately as part of the programming) or (even better) do my special actions before the normal Room Off actions happen? msgreenf
No. Why do you want to change input on power off? It gets auto set on power on Sent from my STV100-1 using Tapatalk
VideoDemon
The answer to why is a little complicated - but I will try. We don't always use the Control4 remote to power the TV on. The TV remembers it's input when it powers off, so if I can set it to a specific input when it turns off (from the Control4 remote), it will be at the right input when I power it on from the other source. I realize that it would be simpler to just always use the Control4 remote - but if you can trust me that there is a good reason for wanting this other approach it might be best. msgreenf
It's not really meant to work like that though. The c4 remote needs to be the main remote to work consistently Sent from my STV100-1 using Tapatalk
VINCELdUB
There is a simple solution. Change the power off macro on the driver. Please pm me the driver or tell me the driver name and I can edit it for you if needed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ILoveC4
You can accomplish what you want by what Vance is suggesting, but it will likely lead to other problems as Control4 will think (and behave) as if your TV was off, even when it's on. I'm curious what the reason behind be other source is, if you don't mind sharing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Changing the power macro would be the best solution here, unless it's an encrypted driver. Then you're probably SOL.
knowitall
You could just use a different driver if it's encrypted. IR drivers are abundant with discrete codes. OR yiu could make it so overly complicated with a wemo insight and Alan's driver when tv powers on if room power is off set input to...
VideoDemon
Thanks for the responses. I will answer the "why", if someone has another solution that allows this in a simpler fashion, it is welcome. My wife likes to use the Tivo remote (she vastly prefers that over the Control4), and we have a Tivo Mini in that room - we can turn the TV on and off with the Tivo remote, and then use that same remote to manage the Tivo. Most of the time she is watching Tivo, so there's no need to use the Control4. It works great. Occasionally she uses Roku (which is in the basement), and the input to the TV needs to be changed. She uses the Control4 remote in that case, and it works fine -changes to the right input, etc. No issue. I would like the system to change back to the Tivo Mini input when she turns off the system so that it is ready for her Tivo watching. She could just change it back before turning off the system - but that is one more step that she needs to remember each time. I am trying to simplify it as much as possible. Not sure if that is clear
VideoDemon
I wanted to add that I am looking for some way to do it myself with Composer HE. I can do a lot of programming with that. If I need to have a driver changed, or if it is something that I cannot do myself, I can get the dealer to make the change - but would prefer to do it myself if possible. It allows me to tweak it if needed.
knowitall
Well since she knows how to use the c4 remote, why not just fire up the system with that and then grab the TiVo remote? Or show her where the input button is on the TiVo remote and label the inputs in the tv "TiVo" and "roku" and shut off all the other inputs
knowitall
Both of those sound easier than any programming that could be done. To me at least
Cyknight
To be frank, no programming will really fix this satisfactory. Basically, on room off, you'll have to program a delay, turn the TV back on, change inputs, turn TV back off. That's the ONLY way it'll work in programming. You HAVE to turn the TV back on. In other words, either 'train' her to select the TiVo with C4, then if she prefers, use the TiVo remote for further control - or get the driver changed. VideoDemon
Thanks for all of the responses - I have my answer. My current thought is that I can use one of the custom buttons to change the intput to what I want, then turn the room off. I'll see how it goes. ILoveC4
Here's what I'd do. "Lose" the TiVo remote. Just take it out of the picture. She'll forget it ever existed in about 3 days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my Note-4 using Tapatalk Make sure it is in front of her. Put dead batteries on a package, go to remote with her on couch. Most likely with a scowl because TiVo is not working. eddy.trochez
The suggestion about changing the power off command in the driver is the way to do this, in fact it's rock solid. Wonder why the OP didn't care about it.
VideoDemon
Appreciate all of the thoughts - I believe that I have what I need for now. I do want to answer one question just asked (assuming that OP is original poster). I was looking for something that I could do with HE. I have a few reasonably simple approaches here that might be good - but if not then I will have someone edit the command in the driver - I agree that this would fix the problem.
