Multiple Audio Matrixes

Is the correct term "matrixes" or "matrices"? :)

I have the need to add another Control4 16x16 audio matrix to a system since the outputs for the first matrix are all used.  There are only a few inputs that are actually used on the first matrix, and I'd like to share the audio from the devices with the second matrix.  Other than using a "Y" connector for each device, is there any way that I could map an output of Matrix 1 to an input of Matrix 2 and then out to the amp?  I understand if it's a bad idea, but since the second matrix gives me plenty of room to work with, I'm curious if it's possible.  Questions about volume control and other things come to mind, so any suggestions are appreciated!

Key digital you can configure their matricies to whatever so you could make and 8x24 or 16x24

Piggy backing would work but is not recommended just as the use of "Y" cables are frowned upon.

How many and what are your sources?

Thank you for your replies.  The hardware has already been purchased and it's a Control4 16x16 matrix, which makes it the second on the system.

The current sources are the two outputs from the HC-800 and a Sonos Connect.

Matrices is the correct term.

As others have said. One matrix large enough to handle you outputs is a much better idea.

Your existing one your dealer will probably but back from you or sell it on this forum or eBay.

Assuming that I can't return the hardware, can somebody shed some light on how I can accomplish this without using a "Y" adapter?

Use a y adapter.

The only reason that this is not recommended is the fact that in certain circumstances Control4 can produce undesired effects when switching sources.

I have successfully run analogue sources through Y splitters into two audio matrices. If you included a detailed input to output list, I could comment further.

The only source not recommended to split out is controller outputs, other sources aren't an issue. This due to the internal pathing the system does - you could always feed separate controller outputs into the different matrices

^ yes it will work fine just don't go above 32 outputs.

You can, but at that point you'll want powered splitters.
