Posted April 8, 20178 yr When putting the Peer code into the driver do you enter just the first 8 or all 12 digits? I can't get the system to connect for some reason, and this is the only variable I can think of. I have checked everything else 10 times. It an IP connection with TL-2803G(r)(e).
April 8, 20178 yr The documentation in the driver states the process for peer, own, user and installer codes.
April 8, 20178 yr Author Thanks, I read the documentation many times, but it is not very clear on this. In the initial section about determining the peer code, it says to enter the sub-code to access the Peer code and that the first 8 digits will be used when entered into the driver. But in the second section about putting the code into the driver it simply says "enter the peer code...." Hence my confusion. I am also confused because the peer code is an encryption key, so it makes little sense to just use the 1st 8 digits, and other apps require the full code. And because I entered the first 8 digits and I can't get it to connect.....
April 8, 20178 yr The documentation is clear, you use the first 8. If you cannot get this to work you have another setting wrong on the panel, a network issue or a bad board. The driver works if the documentation is followed to the letter...I know this because I've helped dealers setup many...99% of the time it's user error / bad config on the console. Delete driver, power down alarm including battery, reboot Director. Power on Director, Power back on the alarm after director is fully online, add driver back in. Go through all the sections in documentation carefully.
April 14, 20178 yr Author Thanks for the help. It turns out that you can use IP communications on the dual communicator boards until the SIM is activated, which was my issue. Once the SIM was activated the IP Communications with C4 worked great. Oddly activating the SIM also changed the Peer code and Own key.
