How To Keep Music Playing In Background

Recommended Posts

I have programmed music to start playing in a theater room when 'Movies' is selected from the navigators.

Tried this 2 ways - directly selecting a media playlist and also by creating a Wakeup scene (this allowed me to choose a shuffle option which I couldn't see how to do the other way).

This is working fine, however with both methods the navigator will show the 'My Music' screen in the Theater with album artwork and playback controls etc.

If I then select 'Movies' again so as to navigate through the movie library, the playback of the music stops.

I would like the music to continue until the movie playback starts.

So is there a way to stop the navigators from going to the 'My Music' screen when playback starts? Or is there a better approach?

Use the AV path setter driver to "strip" the audio from hdmi and force it to an analog/digital coax output and connect that to the AVR so HDMI does video /navigator only

you AVR will need to support video pass thru from non video sources (cd)

Hmm, technically, your music SHOULD continue to play IF/ASSUMING that same controller HDMI is in fact feeding the the receiver. I'd guess in this particular situation, stripping the audio off of HDMI is already being done and is causing the issue - vs being a remedy.

Connections are from a media player to the AVR (HDMI input) for 'Movies'.

The music source is an HC800 (with NFS) running into the analog inputs of the AVR.

I can switch the AVR between digital (the movie sound source) and analog (the music) via its driver. So this means the display will show the movie library with the music running in the background and I can just switch it to the digital source when the movie starts. All good with this side of things.

Problem is when the music playback starts, the navigators switch to the 'My Music' screen and re-selecting Movies (so as to navigate the library) causes the music to stop playing.

Having a look at the AV path setter driver and I need some more clues! Not sure exactly what I need to do here.

Ah so you're trying to watch a media player - you're NOT trying to watch C4's native My Movies option.

Frankly, I'm drawing a blank here. Not saying there may not be some way with your current setup to make it work, but what you're trying to do here is more or less going in the opposite direction of how Control4 works.

I've got half a mind on some way to do this using a virtual room, but to be honest - I've had an extremely tiring weekend, and not sure I'd trust my brain to compute it through for it at the moment.

He he yeah I'm an opposite direction kind of guy apparently. :)

Yes you are right - a virtual room did the trick.

I created a room with an imaginary receiver for the music and set the wakeup to play in that room.

Works like a charm.

Thanks folks much appreciated! It's a small thing but I reckon the little touches are what make the C4 experience worthwhile.
