What's the difference between this and the newer model?

I remember reading someone's answer to this question that was asked in another thread awhile ago.  This model won't have volume increment steps like the newer one.  4% increments vs 1% increments on the newer model.  Something like that.  Specs say the newer matrix can do smoother 1/2 db volume steps.

Ahh, no.  Sorry.   It came out in '06 or a little earlier.  I don't know how much earlier.   I wasn't in the C4 game back then.  Some users on this forum may have experience with it that far back.  If you can shell out a few bucks, try to get the V3, otherwise the V2 might suit your needs for a good price elsewhere.

thanks for the reply anyways. have a v1 working fine, just trying to see if there is any reason i would consider upgrading to a v2 or v3 if the price was descent ;)

doubt there is enough of a difference to justify upgrading unless it dies or they drop v1 from future versions like they did with the original touch screens in 2.6.

thanks again.

How smooth is the volume stepping?

don't remember the exact percentage increments off the top of my head but it is tolerable. i have default volumes set for the different audio only zones and i tend not to adjust them much anyways unless i happen to get a louder than normal tunein station ;)

depending on the amp he is using, the matrix may only be doing source selection. That is a great deal though, i doubt they will retire the V1 anytime soon like they had to for the old touch panels or controllers since it isnt doing much other than routing and volume

you are absolutely correct, i had a brain fart ;) i am only using the 16 zone matrix as source selection/sharing, got confused temporarily as i use to use a 4 zone amp with 4 zone matrix built in but ran out of inputs so i picked up the v1 16 zone audio matrix on ebay for like $100 :)
