I have an Ethernet version I was just about to list.

Be careful when requesting a "wifi" ethernet point.

It will only connect using WEP encryption instead of WPA which all WAPs use now. It essentially makes the wifi complelely useless unless you put in a dedicated WAP with separate encryption just to connect, and even then the WiFi on this thing sucks. I think its like Wireless "b/g" or something. Its not even "n"

If going wireless get an Ethernet version and hook it up with something like this http://netgear.com/home/products/networking/wifi-range-extenders/EX7000.aspx

hook the extender to wifi then hardwire your speakerpoint to the extender.

But even that is flakey, you really, really need hard wired ethernet for this to work as intended. Stay away from trying to hook one of these up wirelessly

Thank you for pointing that out. Now the real question my mate that is a dealer just pinged me is what is the difference between the C4 ones and the new Triad ones

Well there is quite a huge difference between the old C4-SpeakerPoint and the brand new Triad One amp. Here comes a car analogy

Speakerpoint is an 1989 Honda Civic. Triad One is a 2017 Audi

For starters the Triad One actually works on Wi-fi. So if you absolutely need wifi just get a T1 and be done with it.

The Audio quality is not even comparable

The T1 has a Built in Audio streamer. So you could use a stream from your HC800 to listen to tunein and another one built into your Triad1 for SiriusXM at the same time.

T1 has IR outputs, just like a Controller does. So you can integrate TVs/Other Devices into the system. Very Handy feature.

T1 Supports High Res Audio and Advanced audio

T1 can do Advanced audio announcements (like a doorbell) seamlessly

T1 has digital inputs, and has a subwoofer preout.

Triad One (atleast in Canada) is very expensive and would not recommend for anyone who is 'cost conscious' its a super premium product with a premium price point.

On the cheap your better of with a Denon Heos Link, BlueSound, or even a Sonos Connect Amp. But if you want it done right, and never want to think about it again then get the T1, it is worth the price.

I have around 3-4 used speakerpoints on my shelf right now. All we do is rip them out. I would part with them for very cheap, but couldnt reccomend them. Even upgrading the firmware on some of them could be a big pain in the butt right now.

Again thank you - you see what I am looking for (use case) is " Speaker points " (not in the Control4 sense) that are always on. So if I have to make an announcement like door bell, voice announcement etc, I don't have to fire up my main receiver which has a delay starting up then it powers up the speakers then can perform the action ....

My understanding is the Triad / Speaker Point is always online and so are the speakers attached to it, so it's instant?

Speakerpoint is likely not the right product for you, because announcements is a big priority to you.

Using speaker point downgrades the system to legacy audio, and the announcements don't work half as good as they do with the new Advanced Audio.

If your concern is announcements, and you actually want them to work without screwing around with it all the time get a Triad One. There is nothing even comparable when it comes to announcements. If you just want an amp without announcements then there are other options. For announcements just spend the extra coin and get the Triad One. Once its installed you will not regret it. Also make sure system is on 2.10.1 with the announcement patch. Its as good as it has ever been.

Thank you for the expert opinion. I am going to go for the Triad 1. Announcements are a big thing don't use them at all, at the moment never used them cause they never worked. I still don't know how to target a specific rooms A/V for an announcement. The little I have played with it it just turns all the AVs on - don't laugh.

Yup the system is 2.10.1.

My main concern is I need that "always on" instant announcements and no lag turning on then playing .....

That's what I understand from what you saying the Triad can do

Yeah, the Triad One is basically the new speakerpoint. WAAAAAAAAY better, too. It sounds fantastic! I have one, on just a pair of bookshelf speakers in my kitchen, and I love it.

Can it stream from Spotify etc (media / music services ) built in?

Can you use it as a audio end point for say a tv?

It needs a control4 controller, just like a speakerpoint. EA-1 will do.

Yes, optical input on the triad one. hook it up to a passive soundbar, for example. It doesn't have speakers itself, though.
