ktraynham
Has anyone found any advantage - or disadvantage - in using a UPS to protect the Control4 and associated gear from power outages, brownouts, and dirty power. Please post expriences, recommendations, and other ideas. Thanks.
ILoveC4
The advantage is your gear is protected....did you really need me to tell you that?Read the showcase thread about "The Ranch". It got struck by lightning and the gear on a UPS didn't get fried. The recommendation - get a UPS.

akg4y
If you're willing/able to pony up the cash get a Smart UPS that can notify a NAS etc when the power is out. My NAS has the functionality to be able to shut down if running on a UPS if notified, but unfortunately the APC J15s I bought dont have that ability. CFUG
I have UPSs but only for convenience. This is what I use for power surge/lighting protection-
bebster
Is that a "whole house" model that ties into the main panel?I've installed those, but have never really had to see if they work well.
CFUG
^Of sorts. It is a "Main Panel" unit. I have this and two sub-panel units and end-of-line protectors.
