Door contacts (specifically Garage Door) and the 12V+ terminal

Actually, magnetic sensors use SIG and +12V, not GND.

The input into the SIG needs to be a positive voltage, so you connect your relay outputs to SIG and +12V, and when the relay closes it's contacts (usually COM and NO), the SIG gets +12V, and senses the contact input.

Door/Window contacts as well as motion sensors usually are wired that way, in addition to using the GND and +12V on motion sensors to power the sensor.
