Help With Router Replacement

Time2Jet

Recommended Posts

I’m finally moving from my Pakedge RK-1 Router to the Mikrotik. And then I’ll likely be back to ask the same kind of questions for my switch and WAPs.

In any event, I’m wanting to clone the old Router’s IP and DHCP table with as little network disruption as possible.

I just realized my laptop doesn’t have an ethernet port, so my plan has to change.

Can someone help me? I’m network illiterate (mostly). I’ve done this before and can’t remember what I did that at the end simply allowed me to physically unplug the old and plug in the new router and my system was none the wiser.

My gateway is .1.1 and I have a range of .1.2-.1.254. I don’t use any static’s, but reserve everything ethernet.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks mujtaba.khokhar

I was more looking for a starting point. I know how to do this, I just went blank.

I’m serve another role as an owner at a dealership, but have techs that will do it for me. I was just trying to fill my weekend more productively. I love to handle things without getting them involved.

fair enough.

IP --> DHCP Server --> leases

thats where you'll find all the IPs that have been dished out via DHCP, from here you can also make them static.

Also don't use quickset - a wise man once told me this and iv'e just stuck to it

if you need anything else let me know

Thanks

M
