considering a third party music streamer - thoughts/opinions?

for those of you who have integrated a third party solution such as heos or sonos, what was the main reason (aside from adding zones using that platform) that you went with that vs the integrated solutions of the EA platform

I have all my zones wired, amplified and working so i don't need zone amps or anything like that. I have the EA5 serving all of my audio, but i am wondering if there is more out there that i should be considering. the heos / sonos route seems redundant, but people are integrating them into C4 so i am wondering what it gives you that the native C4 solution doesn't

is there a music service you can't get native that you want?

not specifically, but i do find some issues with the pandora driver in control4 that they seem to have abandoned, and only 2 RCA out on the EA5 is limiting for me as well.

yeah, i considered that as well, even an HDMI audio extractor, but that still doesn't solve the pandora issues, and even spotify can be cumbersome at times (not sure if that is the case everywhere else too). i was looking at the heos superlink and everyone here always raves about how great heos integration is , but i am wondering if in the grand scheme of things if it will enhance my experience enough to justify the cost

I have a heos link HS2 - happy to sell it - just don't use it anymore - use spotify 95% of the time

that strikes me as the type of product that should be selling for $99-$149 on amazon, not "under $1000"
for $1000 i would want a more robust and professional product like the heos

Bad at striking then. I'm not a particular fan (nor hater) of Fusion - but their gear is aimed and made for Pro installation - UNLIKE Heos which is more DIY product to compete with Sonos.

Nothing against HEOS (I guess we're supposed to say Denon Home for the devices now...) by the way.

having briefly looked into the Fusion, it is based on the old logitech media code, which is no longer supported. I would prefer a device that is backed by a company that has been around for a long time and has invested in their own platform rather than rebranding an abandoned one.
I used LMS in my own custom build years ago, and found it to work well, but it had it's share of bugs and oddities and is probably why it never made it to the mainstream

Sure, they use the now open source code for it - but they have their own full custom build, that they develop and support - and Fusion Research has been around for over 15 years with these.

Again, I'm no fan of Fusion, we rarely use them at all - but the arguments you're using aren't accurate.

We also have older audio streamers based on LMS (like Fusion).

They come with the full C4 driver suites.   However, we don't maintain this anymore as most people just use the native services.

But if you want one, I'm happy to sell them at a huge discount.  We have both single stream (NBX022) and 8 stream (NBX100).  Just msg me if you are interested.
