anon2828
Looking for recommendations and experience for Best 4k Projector sub $5000: ENVIRONMENT: Semi light controlled media room (definition = 1 large sliding glass door set opening with blackout shade, some light leakage during day along the sides, at night with shades down almost completely dark). White walls and ceiling. SCREEN SIZE: 120" VIEWING DISTANCE: Approx 10-11 ft from screen What is your favorite sub-$5000 projector and screen (motorized drop down, wall mounted, not recessed) and screen material (white, gray, ALR, etc) and why? Cyknight
Hmm. 5000 for both combined? ALR seems not needed in this case - I might steer you to the LG 4K laser projector and a Dragonfly High Contrast Screen (Grey Screen) which help darker colours pop more in somewhat brighter rooms. Probably wouldn't have the whisper drive motor option, and will need to do some shopping to keep the projector price lower and I think you could get that in 5000 material cost. anon2828
Sorry should have been more clear: Projector budget $5k or less Screen budget hopefully $3-4k
Cyknight
Probably still LG, just the newer version (should be able to find a sale under 5K though not by much), or maybe the Sammy Premier? I've been underwhelmed with the latest Epson ones, and JVC and Sony are out of your budget. I've been very pleasantly surprised by LG projectors lately - good value for money in their 4K laser line up.
tdougray
Epson TH-TW7100 on a budget The US is usually the same in $ as £ so I would look at the Sony VPL-VW270ES can get that for just under £5k in UK so you might be lucky

It's a so-called "4K enhanced" projector. 7 hours ago, tdougray said: Sony VPL-VW270ES If you can find it sub 5K US sure, great projector - not sure we can get it for that as a dealer though.... Well I guess it's three years old, the current 295 I think street price is about 5500?

Yes your quite correct but does a great job at a ridiculously low price. 3 hours ago, Cyknight said: Well I guess it's three years old, That why I thought they might get a deal rather than the latest
BraydonH
This 4K Casio Laser Projector with 5000 Lumens kicks ass. https://www.casio.com/products/archive/projectors/4k-hd-projectors/xj-l8300hn We've used it a couple times. Its Native 4K, Bight as Hell, and way less maintenance because its lasers. Pretty quite and boots up and shuts off faster than other projectors. Bit more than 5000 in canada, but in the US im sure you could prob find a good deal for around that price point. You said there are a few windows in the room so the more lumens the better in my opinion. Full flex if you pair that with a screen innovations Slate
BraydonH
Just seen they are "discontinued" on the website. I got one from Casio in January this year so they should be be kicking around. I seen the Casio at a trade show few years back next to a Digital Projection (DP) projector and the DP costed double and didn't compare to this Casio. I was sold ever since I seen that.
