Dimmer Switch & Power Supply

Recommended Posts

I am adding either Klus or Loox LED strips into media room. They are asking for Power Supply info. My choices are: 0-10v, MLV, e-series or ELV series. I am using a Control 4 six button switch. I can wire them directly to the Control4 centralized panel. Any comments are welcome. So which dimming do I choose to be compatible with this scenario?

All depends on the type of strips you're using.  Klus, as far as I know, only make aluminum profiles for LED strips.  Most strips are either 12 or 24 VDC.

There are many different ways to skin this cat, search the forum.  I wouldn't wire them into your panelized lighting panel.

No they carry strips as well as powersupplies as well.

C4 can handle all of them, but I'd stay away from MLV, and 0-10 is an option but not worth it.

ELV is fine, but I'd go e-series. The e-series is specifically designed for use with triac based dimmers (which is what C4 uses)

To be clear you won't be wiring the strips to the panel, but you could wire the power supplies to it.

Thanks for replying! Yes, I'm not wiring the LED strips to the panel - just the power supply, in this case the gauge wires.  My dealer/electrician doesn't know what e-series is so I'm probably going to have to figure that one out.  Is there a link?  Thanks again!
