EA5 - Triad Audio Matrix Microphone Dealy

denniswstr

Question

Hello,

i need help with one of my installations.

Hardware

EA-5 Controller

Triad 8 Zone Audio Matrix

Sennheiser Wireless Microphone with an balanced output

Touchpad

The Installation

I go from the Microphone into the Triad 8 Zone Input 2(on Input one there is the EA-5 Controller). And From the Triad 8 output to the active Speaker. I configured a Laptop driver as the input for the microphone (because there is no driver for the microphone)

The Problem

The System works and i can speak into the microphone and hear it on the speaker. The Problem is, that there is a 4sec. Delay between my Voice and the sound of the Speaker.

Maybe someone knows that problem and can help?

Greats

Dennis

I have done a similar setup using Shure BLX24 mic into a Rolls DU30B audio ducker. EA5 goes into the duck as well. Duck then into a Triad Matrix. I have done this setup at multiple venue locations and never had any delay like this. It may be your wireless mic.

Sounds like the mic or the speaker is adding the delay, the triad matrix wouldn't randomly add a 4 second delay.  I would feed the mic straight into the speaker and see if you get the delay, then plug some other source that you know doesn't buffer into the speaker (ie a phone or ipod).  That should help you narrow it down.  What active speaker are you using?

Sounds to me like you have mic audio routed through the EA5 where it would be digitized thus delayed like you describe. That audio matrix cannot add delay, I don’t know of any matrix that can add 4000 ms of delay
