Motion sensor troubleshooting

Recommended Posts

I have a NYCE motion sensor in our master closet.  It is set to turn on the closet lights and "start" a count-down timer.  The Stop Motion Delay value for the motion sensor is set at 20 seconds.

The "if running" explanation for the timers agent says "(if running):  Starts the timer over and fires the 'reset' event. Timer state: Running."  The way I interpret the above, then, is that after first detecting motion the NYCE sensor waits 20 seconds and, if it detects motion after that period, it fires off another "motion detected" signal and the timer should reset.  The count-down time is set for 1 minute, so there should be an avenue of 40 seconds for motion to be detected and the cycle to start again.

That never happens.  I could be doing jumping jacks in the closet and the counter never resets.  I've enabled logging in the NYCE sensor and it appears to send a "no motion" signal after roughly its Stop Motion Delay and then does nothing after that.  (Log for two events below, what I believe to be a motion signal and that a no-motion signal.)

It faithfully detects initial entry into the closet but then appears to ignore motion after that.  Any ideas?

Thanks!

Add the courtesy light driver. Select the sensor. Delete all programming and configure the driver.

Courtesy light driver?  I don't see that one.  Can you give some more details?  Do you mean the security-courtesy light?
