jsimon77
I'm all the sudden having issues connecting to my controller. I have 2 different houses running C4. I was able to connect to my main house system locally using my parallels set up. It worked fine. Now I'm at my other location, same version of C4 and trying to connect locally the same way. I've connected to it locally many many times. Everything comes up like normal. It finds my controller, it says "Ready to connect" but when I hit connect it just spins and will not pull in my system. Eventually it will time out and say unable to connect to the controller. I've restarted my EA1 My dealer tested and was able to connect remotely. System is running 3.3.0 and I'm using HE 3.3.1 Any ideas?

Something had happened that prevented this so better use match version for HE as well, so If u could uninstall 3.3.1 and install HE 3.3.0 instead, it should work just fine. Your HE key u can get from customer.control4.com
msgreenf
no, that is not how composer 3 works. It has compatability packs to support different OS's. Don't uninstall and downgrade.

You said parallels, so double check the parallels IP is the same subnet as the EA. I had this happen yesterday and as quick as it came, it went away...no idea why. Actually I think it’s an IP issues, so he might have in main house a network setup that is not replicated in the other house, IP conflict of some kind! So I think you might be on to something but not sure how to fix it. So I realized that when I click "Local" it is seeing the correct EA1 BUT....it is showing met the IP of my OTHER location, not the correct IP this EA1. Maybe I need to enter it manually? SpencerT
Try taking parallels out of shared mode and put it into bridged mode.

SpencerT
Are your private subnets the same between both locations?

I'm not there anymore...but guessing they might be? Now that I'm at my main location. 1) I can connect to my C4 system here locally on the same machine no problem 2) I'm able (on a different windows machine) to connect to vacation house via remote connection no problem. I'll have to test again when I get back there.

If you think there's an IP problem, make sure you change the IP address if you move the laptop to a new network. I would then enter the controller manually. If you have 2 places you travel back and forth to, you may want to make sure they are both different subnets so there's no confusion. (ie 10.1.x.x & 10.2.x.x) or even 10.x and 192.168.x
