May 22, 20241 yr Author Yale has a new biometric lock called "Approach". It's a wifi enabled lock. Anyone know if C4 will develop drivers to work with wifi locks and not require the C4 module insertion anymore? Thx

May 22, 20241 yr They already have a driver for the wifi locks, August Connect. Been using it for almost 2 years now. The question is whether or not the biometric lock reports the same as a keypad lock. If so, then the driver should work.
May 22, 20241 yr The "Approach" is a little different than the rest of the Assure 2 line. Someone's going to need to be guinea pig. Its a retrofit inside only change setup to keep outside aesthetics. The lock itself is bluetooth, to their wifi hub plug in. The keypad ( w or w/out fingerscanner) is optional separate battery device and bluetooth to the lockset. So whether the lockset relays the codes from the keypad through the lock to the WiFi is to be determined.
May 22, 20241 yr Also, My understanding is the biometric fingerprint ID information IS NOT passed from Yale to Control4. No programming off whos fingerprint unlocked the lock. If someone has experience that it does please let us know.
July 1, 20241 yr Author Hi all, just another quick question on these locks... If I have an Assure 2 lock and decide to use the Yale Wifi module (vs zigbee C4), I see some have stated they integrate these via August Connect. Just for clarity, does this mean I also need to add an August gateway (August Connect) to integrate to C4 or will I be able to just use the c4 driver (August Smart Lock) to integrate the Yale lock? Thx!

Thx! Wifi works with the august/yale driver no addition modules needed. I have had them a little over a month and seem pretty reliable. The door sensors are a little delayed with wifi but still works. I have some door left open alerts setup so i know there is a chance the dog got out. I'm sure the c4 module works better but these are an amazing leap from my schlage zwave using a bridge.
