How do I debug a network issue

I have found an ongoing problem where my internet drops off for a very short time.

My ISP reports no faults on their service.

Is there a way to determine if my switch or router are the cause?
Noting I do not have other hardware to swap out in their place to run testing.

Router: Asus RT-AC66U
Switch: Level One GSW-1657 16 port gigabit switch

I'll give it a go.

 

Though, how would this identify an issue if it is with the switch?

The switch is unmanaged.

wont any errors show up as failing at my router?
