DLite Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 I have a puzzling problem with two 8" T4 touch screens. A few weeks ago, both of them started intermittently flickering; imagine the screen shifting to the left and back very rapidly to create a flicker. We have 7 other touch screens of different types (5 T4 10" screens and 2 T3's), all of which are fine. While I cannot reproduce the flickering on demand, it seems to be much more likely when the brightness is low, and I have seen this behavior begin immediately after a programmatic change in brightness on numerous occasions. At a minimum, it's highly correlated with changes in brightness and with low brightness settings. I would have assumed this to be a hardware problem, but I'm mystified that the same issue happened at exactly the same time on both of our 8" T4s. It seems pretty unlikely that hardware failures would happen simultaneously on two units. It makes me wonder if this was a bad software update to the touch screens instead. Is this a hardware issue that I should seek replacements for? Or should I just wait for a software fix? I imagine replacements are going to take forever and a day to arrive, so I'm hoping for the latter. Thanks Quote
South Africa C4 user Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 I would have concluded the same as you. Hardware being more likely bit both failing at the same time tends to imply software (or power surge damage of some sort). Have you checked that your T4s (working and broken) are all on the same software version? You could have your dealer reflash the 2 problem Touchscreens… Quote

msgreenf Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 If they were purchased at the same time not that much of a coincidence. Same batch... Quote

eggzlot Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 I am starting to notice flickering on my T4 also, but it appears to only happen at night after like 9/930. And I have it auto shut off at 10pm every night. Quote

I notice it seems more likely when brightness changes, and especially when it gets dimmer. (However, this is not a hard and fast rule, only something that appears to predict relative risk.) Quote

C4 had screen issues with first run of T4. We waited for it to be fixed, then most of our T4s (AFTER the fix) had same issue so C4 replaced them. Pressure them and they should replace for free. They had bad screens for first two T4 screens used. Then had issues again if screens were on 24/7. Quote
Control4Savant Posted October 26 Posted October 26 C4 doesnt just rma products because you pressure them. Quote

Took all our neeos back too after I sent them clip of one of their senior employees at a conf Pooh-poohing the neeos as an interim step or something of the sort (after 2/3 had screen failures and most of bases stopped charging because of alignment issues). Credited us for all the neeos and replaced T4s in two houses. Twice in one house. Wrote to the ceo and copied the attorney general. Quote

Just to be clear, it was not a secret that the Neeo was an interim step, since the processor running the Neeo was a similar generation and spec to the hardware running the SR260, and the Wifi hardware in them had a lot of peculiarities with what access points they 'preferred'. It was possible to get them rock solid, but there were definitely issues at release, and the Halo has addressed many of those issues. That said, IMHO the NEEO team did a good job squeezing out the most that chip could do, the Neeos are a pretty snappy and responsive remote. I use half a dozen of them around the house, including in guest areas, and don't have any ongoing issues. I'm sorry you had screen issues, but that was not an overall issue with the Neeo remotes, and I've not heard of many charging base issues either. RyanE Time2Jet 1 Quote
